My aging eyes have trouble seeing the numbers on my wall cutter's measuring scale, so I've been wearing my reading glasses instead of my usual safety glasses when cutting glass. A friend gave me a pair of safety glasses with built-in bifocal reading lenses at the bottom, but in order to see through that part I had to hold my head at an awkward angle. I've been on a mission to find safety glasses with full-frame magnifying lenses, and finally found THESE on Amazon. I got them today, and they are great. They are available in various strengths. I highly recommend them to anyone who wants good protection with a little boost for vision.

I have a B&W sepia toned photograph (probably from the ‘20s), that has a significant sheen in the shadow areas. I have scanned this photo for a restoration, but those areas are a nightmare to fix.

It’s been years since I had a darkroom, but I know that this “tarnish” is due to either an exhausted fixer or insufficient washing.

My question: if this photo were reprocessed with a fresh fixing solution and with an adequate rinse, could this silver “tarnish” be eliminated from those shadow areas, or would the deterioration simply be retarded yet still remain “shinny”?

After 30 something years in this business, I actually got a surprising call from a supplier about the length moulding he shipped out to me last week.
It was returned to him, with a minor crushing at one end. He wanted to know why I had refused it, the damage looked minor to him.

Seems UPS brought it by Monday, when I was here, alone, all day. Their online tracking states, "the receiver refused to accept the package." No UPS guy (or gal) came through my doors all day. No brown. Just me. All day. Nothing like it.

How the heck did I refuse to accept something I didn't even know about?

And you could all predict that I was LOOKING for this package so I could get it done in advance of the weekend deadline.

Luckily this supplier had a keen sense of my befuddlement and frustration and offered to chop my frames and send them 2nd day air so I'd have them in time.

Sheesh.

Ok, I've looked and I don't really see anything that applies to this one. I have a 2" brass medallion with the limited edition info for the Own Gromme print it goes with that I need to sink mount into the mats. I have the openings cut (3 little 2" circles) and it fits pretty tight but I'm concerned it will fall out.

Any way to hold it better? Maybe a piece of Mylar between the top and middle mats? Or any other suggestions? :help:

Greetings Grumblers,

I do framing for a retail company, and I'm looking for a better method of dust cover attachment. I've been using rubber cement (gross) to match what the company's vendor had been using, and I've just tried out ATG tape and am not thrilled with the results. I did a forum search, and it looks like something called Franks Fabric Glue is popular . . . Is this a white glue?

I come from the world of bookbinding and paper conservation, so I'm in vaguely but not terribly familiar waters.
Thanks!
