This is my first attempt at creating a poll.

This poll is for frame shop owners and covers such topics as POS Systems, CMCs, internet feed at the shop, and web page effectiveness. Hopefully the results will be informative and beneficial to all.

Thanks in advance for participating.

Mike,

Nice job at designing this survey. The stats should be interesting if we get some respectable response.

The only question that was a bit weak, might have been the "hits per month" question. As you well know "Sessions" or "Page Views" are probably more revealing stats. Perhaps a question for those with websites, might have been, DO YOU HAVE A HIT COUNTER OR SUBSRIBE TO A REAL STATS PROGRAM?

Good job.

John

Point well taken. I meant unique visitors/sessions or individual IPs, not total page views. It's too late to fix it now, but I'll remember next time.

I'm anxious to see the results.

Thanks Mike - great job with this and with your techno-faq pages.

Nice altruistic sevice for all of us. This is a great bit of data for any one making technology decisions - a group that should include most of us. I encourage every grumbler to vote.

My web traffic varies depending on advertising and direct mailings for art shows. The website focuses on the art gallery and is designed to encourage inquiries by phone. My web visits are monitored with a counter.

I'm not interested in selling frames over the Internet, so I only have one page that gives a brief description of my services for the locals.

It would be interesting to find out what kind of numbers allposters.com, art.com, etc. generate.

The results have been very interesting so far. If you haven't participated, please do.

One thing that puzzles me is several people put "OTHER POS" when asked which they use. I thought all 21 were listed. If you put OTHER, please let me know what you use and the web site so it can be included on a future list.

Phenomenal job for the first time, Mike. I think bettr than Decor did, in fact.

Wanna job there?????

DECOR's E-Tips has just sent out some results on part of your poll. Take a look.

Actually they did one of their own, which had nothing to do with the one here on the Grumble.

It was just a coincidence that they shared a couple topics. Their results were similar to ours so far, and I look forward to seeing ours once more people have voted. It has had the best response of any recent poll, but a LOT of people still haven't taken the time to share.

Great Poll! I learned some great stats from it. But one thing people needto realize is that a new web site is like starting a new business, takes about two or three years to take off. alot of people think a web site will lead to overnite success. our web site designed my wife www.aframedpoem.com after almost 2 yrs is now realizing results. you may want to concider a link exchange program it works well, as well as putting your web site on every thing possible.

Sue, I'm sure it's strictly a dollar issue. The Eclipse must be purchased outright, while as you know, Wizard can be rented, and even has different programs of renting.

I've heard several framers say that they narrowed it down to Fletcher and Eclipse, but chose Fletcher for the "brand". Ooops, didn't work that time.

I don't know personally, but I've never seen an Eclipse owner say anything negative about their machine. If I purchased a Eclipse, I'd even have the advantage of a dealer who would come out, set it up, and teach me how to use it!

But the price would delay a purchase over the rental of a Wizard. Pros and cons.....

Keep in mind that these results are for our entertainment only, and represent only about 100 grumblers. (a generally technically savy group)

In reality the stats would be very different with a larger audience, and the cmc equipped stats would probably go down.

Mike: the sad part about all this is the number of businesses out there who do NOT have any automation at all, as reflected in your poll.
With the cheapness of computers, the rental programs for CMCs, low interest rates at banks for loans to upgrade businesses, not to mention the added professionalism of your business in the customers' eyes plus ease of operating your own business etc. it seems like a nobrainer that everyone would be computerized and as automated as possible.

This is a post to reset the poll forum after the 1/30/04 crash, so this poll will be revived.

Please ignore
