Lady brought in a 32 x 50 map, mounted to foam core. Wants it stuck to the front of a larger piece of foam core, (48 x 66), with wood lathe on the back for hanging/support. Dents on the bottom and side edges, and she doesn't even want them trimmed. Too big for our press, so we're using a table and weights. For smaller things, I tend to use a combination of Frank's, with some ATG to hold the thing it place while it dries. Thought of using Corner Weld wood glue on it, but don't know if that will do something weird to the foam core after awhile. What do you use for sticking down big, thick stuff like this?

A thin layer of white glue. Having taken part many jobs that used white glue, I saw no damage. Apply it thinly and quickly.

I agree and it will work.
Gatorboard can be used as well but it may be a pricing issue and the glue won't be an issue with Fome Core or with Gator, but the Gator is more rigid.

With Corner Weld you have a small window of time to place it exactly before it "grabs".
You could also use VHB tape for this but you need to be EXACT in the placement with the VHB because of the 48" wide board.
Once you touch the board to the VHB, it ain't gonna' move without ripping the bottom board.
You can't use a larger board and then trim after because of the 48".
You can use painter's tape to mark exact placement and have two people to place it carefully with VHB.

All that said, I would probably go with the white glue, Corner Weld or even Elmer's.

Thanks, guys. We did it last night, with Corner Weld. What with cutting the foam core alignment strips, positioning, etc...., these things always take longer than I imagined. Next, we'll add a wood bracer. And agreed about the aggressiveness of VHB tape. The times I've used it, once it's down, that's it.

I probably would have suggested Mighty Core Board which is rigid, but runs just a bit more than foam core and far far less than Gator Board and is lighter weight.

I agree, but she wanted this in so little time that we wouldn't have been able to get it in. (Well, for a ginormous fee.) Unless we got white and rattle-canned it black, but we're so busy with other stuff that, when? We've used Mighty Tough before, and while it's not as sturdy as Gator, it's a good in-between.
