Draftsight (Google it) is an inexpensive CAD tool that can be used to create files for ANY CMC that will read a DXF file. Different rules apply for each brand of CMC software. Draftsight is a CAD program, so it is over kill for mat cutting but it can be stripped down to perform for a frame shop. This software is universal. If you invest the time to learn how to use it, your knowledge can transfer across machine platforms (so can ALL of your years of mat file creations). If you are a professional framer working in a frame shop and you learn a vendor specific program (i.e. Pathtrace) this will limit you to a job in another frame shop with that brand of CMC. If you know a universal program like Draftsight you have a much broader set of opportunities. Let me know if you would like to know more.
