Explosion of Spam

Is it just me, or have any of you also noticed a huge increase in spam emails lately? This is occurring on all 4 of my email accounts, both local (provider) server and web mail (Yahoo and Hotmail). I'm wondering if there is some new filter-evading technology that has come along, or if they stopped enforcing anti-spam regs.

I havent personally seen a change. I have 14 email accounts and get maybe 1 - 2 per day, total. (usually from some company trying to offer business loans or some nonsense, that uses a new company name every couple days)

Had a huge influx of spam a while back. It went away completely for maybe a month and started back up in earnest at the beginning of last week.

Not so much spam, but if I buy an item online (which I often do) I a follow-up e-mail asking me to do a review. Fair enough,
but in practice who's got the time to do it? And it bungs up you inbox. Even worse, you only have to look at an item on E-Bay
and you get reams of mail enquiring if you are still interested - here's something you might like - etc.

It reminds me of those little kids in India who descend en masse on tourists with armfuls of stuff.

Use Duck Duck Go and you won't be tracked.

Not e-mail spam, but we've been getting more telemarketer calls.
Telemarketer calls are really annoying. But more so, is a telemarketer call in Chinese, which I get daily at about 11:50am from San Francisco!!!

I heard about this solution to e-mail spam:
Charge 1/100 of one cent for every e-mail sent.
Companies of all sizes who have control of their list would be virtually unaffected.

But that guy sending out 50,000,000 would get a bill.

I agree, Doug. Similarly, I believe we need a small fee for each financial trade transaction, which might have a similar effect on program trading, which causes outsize ups and downs in the market, and which gives an unfair trading advantage.

Phone Spam or telemarketing is much worst than email spam
one day last week I got 12 robocalls in one day, some were already blocked, I blocked the new ones

Amen to that. I get many of these calls. Most seem to be spoofing the names of small towns nearby, or small towns I've never heard of, such as Dothan, AL.

I am so glad I'm online only these days. I don't publish my phone # on my site and don't answer any calls that I don't know. Still get several a day which I auto-block or right swipe away.

Gmail does a pretty good job of filtering out spam emails. They also allow you to set up different files of emails like Promotion or Updates and also do a pretty good job of filtering those types of emails into the various folders.

Beside that, this forum is not safe! It does not have a safety-certificate that shows a green lock before the url. Why not?
