I enjoy riding my bicycle. My shop is about 1/2 mile from the Silver Comet Trail. If weather permits I try and ride 3 to 4 days a week.

The silver Comet Trail is a 61 mile long abandoned rail bed converted into a bike and walking trail.

You might be able to tell from my avatar. So far I have been to 7 different amusement parks this year.

We are planning a big trip that will include LaRonde in Montreal.

Really I have no time for any hobbies. I gravitate toward the easy ones like TV. I'm a TV junky! When I have time I like fishing and hunting but haven't done either in probably 3 or 4 years. I like photography and do get to that occationally for fun instead of money. Playing guitar in a band is more work than fun these days but I would love to spend a weekend in the woodshop building some guitars. I like long walks on the beach and.... wait... wrong place for that. Nevermind!

Pond sailing and racing on inland Michigan waters. Every Sunday afternoon is race time and regattas on the holidays.

Gardening, both vegetables and floral gardening. Seems I expand a bit each year. This year I'm growing heirloom tomatoes, brussel sprouts, sweet and hot peppers, all kinds of herbs, various lettuces, spinach, beans, gourds, rhubarb, onions... list goes on.

Cooking... especially being a grillmeister. Baby back ribs and Portabello mushroom sandwiches with blackened red peppers and onions on grilled buns are two of my specialties.

Fly fishing! - and fly tying, rod-building. I collect, refinish and fish old bamboo rods.
Sad to say, haven't been out fishing yet - too busy....

Also drums, guitar, cooking, gardening (vegetables), hunting, archery, kayaking, antiques.....

Somehow I do manage to fit all this in....

SGF, Supreme Grumble Framer
Playing drums and going to concerts. :D

Fly fishing. Last weekend I caught 5 small bows on my 4 weight, using an egg pattern.
Brings back memories of the Manistee River, my favorite trout stream ever, just west of Frederick off old Rt 27 in the late 1950's.:p

And the Pigeon River Reserve.

SGF, Supreme Grumble Framer
I have a plethora of hobbies - I'm constantly busy.
The most prominent and current ones include: chainmail (mostly jewelry, but a few bigger pieces) & metalworking, photography, going to the gym, skating on my brand new Land Rollers, playing with my seven cats, two sugar gliders, and hedgehog, watching TV (while petting kitties).

Other hobbies that I'm currently less busy with: drawing celtic knots, beading (on a beadloom), stitchery (needlepoint, blackwork, cross-stitch, couchwork, etc...), packing bento lunches (ok, the hobby is really in searching for and procuring new bento boxes and accessories), cooking, gardening, glass etching, woodworking, and .... more.

Like I said, I'm constantly busy, but the critters take a lot of time to keep everybody happy - I just hung two bird feeders outside our big window and put out squirrel chow so that the cats have a hobby too!

Have fished both of these marvelous rivers. I'm afraid the last time I was on the Manistee it was a bust though. Gorgeous river to float, and for me that's half the fun.

Hi, Jimmy! :)

There are at least two other Texas Hold 'Em fans around here.
Can't recall who they are, but I ran across that in their 'about
me' while looking for birthday thread ideas. You could start a thread
in Warped titled Texas Hold 'Em and see who bites.

John Raines is right that this would fit better there, but I'm glad it's
here. Gives the folks who might not have made the trip to Warped
yet a chance to find out who the rest of us are. Makes my evil
plan to lure them all over to Warped that much easier to fulfill.

You are getting verrrry sleepy! Look into the spiral thingy.....

As for hobbies, mine are pretty tame.

I spend time with people I love, including my parents and friends.
I try to visit my special friends Raymond and Diana every weekend.
I take walks, make stoneware pottery, and bake a pie a month for
my Hospice Auction people. In the summer, I go to yard sales and
the farmers' market. I love jasper, nautilus shells, dragonflies and
sarongs. And I Grumble. :icon21:

Pretty run of the mill here:

Painting (mainly watermedia at the moment, but overall am prone to acrylic), cooking (mainly baking, desserts and breakfast foods), work out (not as often as I should), and playing video games.

Nothing beats hanging out with family - this past Sunday we were all together at our beach house in San Clemente. My eldest grandson, Andrew, was visiting from Houston and seemed to have a good time

Collecting vintage computer software and vintage hardware. All from 1975 - 1985 time frame.

Reminds me of the setup the kid had in the movie "War Games". ;)

I like to do graphics on the computer, and mixed-media art, listen to music, work on projects for Terry's keyboard club, tinker in the basement workshop, mess around on the drums, and of course, Grumble.

Fishing, but especially surf fishing, cooking (especially what I catch), taking care of my pet menagerie and am beginning to study a bit about the art of curing meats and making sausages both cured and fresh.

Watching sausage being made might cure one of eating meats. Or at least eating sausage.

Wine and women.

Just kidding!! Traveling, but owning the business and having just one day off cancels that.

Nature photography, but the previous reason cancels that too.

Hiking and sailing but the previous reason cancels that as well.

Collecting antique oil lamps, but I am reaching saturation point...

So it is just wine and women, I guess.:p

I regularly go to the gym with my wife, we also dragonboat competitively in the summer. I have coached and played volleyball most of my life. Love to travel when I can (but Paul is right, owning a business makes this harder than I would like. Not enough time, no where near enough money!). I've also spent countless hours creating scratch built static display wooden model ships and would love to be able to spend more time doing it again. Does raising 3 kids count as a hobby? Other than all that stuff, life sucks.

PFG, Picture Framing God
There is painting of course...but that is more of a passion rather than a hobby.

Getting out in Nature's beauty as much as I can for long hikes.

Driving my convertible Z way too fast and way too agressively..(not possible is it Baer??:p)

Improving my cooking skills

Reading Sci Fi/Fantasy and philosophy

How fun is that? I desperatly wish to work on this someday. I don't know where to even start. I only have one grandmother living and her mind is checking out. I feel like I missed an oppertunity becuase grandparents seem like a great place to start searching!

I'm writing a novel--who isn't? Painting scenes from the life of the Black Cat of Salem; learning to grill! Yum! Am on the Board of the Salem Arts Association--is that a hobby or Pergutory?? I dye my hair purple...I go motoring in my Mini Cooper Clubman that we bought last summer. We LOVE it! It drives great; corners and accelerates like a Race Car! (I've never driven a REAL Race Car and have no interest in doing so!) AND we can fit a32x56-ish painting in the back of that thing! Done it; been there! So, the car works FOR Work!

We go mining Herkimer Diamonds almost every year in--guess where?--Herkimer, NY. Rocks, Gems, and Minerals have always been a fascination since childhood for me.

We LOVE Antiquing! We go to Todd Farm every Sunday looking for treasures. We go to Brimfield and to Upstate NY. Haven't hit Maine yet, but we are planning...we sell antique frames at the store. It's not lucrative--YET! We're building that market.

There's more. Always. I say, if I had three clones, I'd load them up with so many of my interests that THEY'D have no time to do them all!

Pets, Dinosaurs, Horse-Racing, Cosmology, Science Fiction, History--I can't even think of more right now, but there are.

I also like to cook, although a commensurate love
of doing dishes has not yet made itself known.

I like to use basic equipment. The two yard sale
food processors that I bought ten years ago
sit fancy and new in the cupboard whilst I
use peeler, knife and cutting board. I prefer
the aesthetics and creative calm of doing it
this way.

I used to write poetry, and still can if the bug
bites. Several years ago, I went and read my
poems at our local open mike meetings. I'm
naturally shy in groups, and it took so much
courage to do that. And even though I don't
mine, I love rock and fossil things, too. Our
local Gem & Mineral show has become a highlight
of the year. They have things like jasper, labradorite,
Pakistani onyx and Chinese marble.

Cooking and not getting caught speeding!

I love cycling, especially off-road and our business evolved from calligraphy. I don't remember the last time I did either.

Singing in a male voice choir was another, but I jacked that because rehearsals were Mon evenings soon after a days work whilst still digesting a rushed dinner and concerts were Saturdays - after 6 days work, with no time for dinner! Lasted 7 years though - not getting any younger

Always wanted to write a book and maybe someday I will; also always wanted to draw and/or paint well and I'm actually doing something about that.

A very good customer of ours (and a lovely person) - Margaret - runs a course called 'So you think you can't draw' at her beautiful home (a converted windmill).

Here she is - you'll like her.

Always meant to put my name down for it - especially after framing amazing stuff from her students.

One day she held an exhibition in our church showing 4 drawings/paintings from 8 students. 1st attempt and then year by year - not that all 8 students did 4 years. There was a book that you could put your name in to take the course, so I thought 'now's the time'

The book was stuffed with names - Margaret said it was embarrassing! Not long to wait now though!
