hello, I am a fine art photographer and mat my images. I would like to get better at cutting mats (avoid those nasty over cuts) and learn some framing basics, i.e, chopping and connecting Moulding, etc. I use a Logan 850 cutter. I live in Maryland (in metro dc area). I would like to spend a few hours training with an experienced framer. Of course I will pay for this service.

    Hi Eric,

We don't do training at Graphik Dimensions/pictureframes.com, but we would be happy to support you with precut mats that do not have overcuts. We have many options. Let me know best way to get in contact to discuss further.

Eric, Plaza Artists Materials has demonstrations and sell Logan supplies. They do Hands on Creativity events that sometimes mat cutting is taught for free. You can reach out to the framing manager Carolyn in the Towson location and she can help lead you in the right direction.

Suggestion: Go around to other frame shops and offer to haul away any mat scraps they want to get rid of.

I once filled a guys car with many more than he could carry.

Now take your Logan and practice, practice, practice.
