I willing to either sell or give The Grumble away. So which is it? If anyone wants to buy it I'll probably sell it; however if the right person can show me the commitment and expertise needed to continue it into the future I might just turn over the keys.

Please don't reply in this thread.

email me pframer@outlook.com

Thanks for any interest.

OK everybody, we have to start thinking about this a little bit. I don't believe that any one of us wants to take this on by themselves and I'm sure we wouldn't do as good a job as Bill has but why don't we think of something like the Grumble Co-op. Members have to be framers, photographer, or artist with proof of such and dues have to be up to date or you can't enter. Everything else we can keep pretty much as it is - no politics unless in the DP - now swearing, no name calling or treating someone disrespectfully. We could be a members only with monthly, quarterly, or annual fee unless you are a sponsor or one of the people that keep the updates and other technical things rolling along. I'm totally computer illiterate so I wouldn't be much help there but there has to be some of us that know their way around the technical portions of running a forum and if we work at it we may be able to find some sponsors and new members.
The Grumble is just too important to have closed down - lets help Bill out and see what we can do to assist Bill or to take it over with Bill's blessing.

Sorry Joe, I already disagree with your ideas here. I doubt a co-op will work.

If we had had those strict rules to join, I would not have been part of the Grumble. As I expect most of us wouldn’t have.
I do agree that the G is important and I want to see it continue as well.

OK, come up with a better idea. Do you know of someone that would like to take it on by themselves? Finally, what strict rules? It would all be the same except that there would be dues that had to be paid, for sure that would keep away some of the scam artist. I don't see why a co-op wouldn't work but we all have to have an opinion, I would really be interested in hearing other ideas.

You're coming up with creative ideas. This has me smiling, as it's one of your strengths. The next thing that comes to mind is that Bill will decide both what happens, and when. Much in agreement with you, Ylva and others, about loving the Grumble! :)

Bill requested contact by email, so I respect those wishes. I don’t think he wants a full blown discussion here.

I meant the strict rules for joining. How would newbies ever be able to?
I also fear by enforcing dues to be paid, that this would become a very selective and boring kind of forum. A lot of people simply wouldn’t join or stay.

Scam artists have always been zapped right away.

I believe the integrity of the G should stay the same. A few changes are needed and are overdue and I think Bill would agree with that.

Seriously, if I give the grumble to anyone there will still be costs to be paid. I would insist on a transfer deal in writing, the Grumble being put on a secure server, a software upgrade, backup procedures in place and a commitment to cover monthly costs. You need coding experience, any type will do but PHP and Linux experience would really be helpful.

More info later got to go.
