I Know there are a lot of categories and nominations on here folks but it only took me 2 minutes to get throught the hole thing.... you can actually select more than one this time so it's really easy and fun!!!!

Here is last year's:
Grumbler Superlative 2005

Here is the nomination page

I am flabbergasted! I hadn't even read the thread about nominations because I thought it was the framing design competition again - and I haven't learned how to post pictures yet
help.gif
.

I am just humbled to no end - just to be nominated - even if I don't win anything... (is that enough baloney, yet?
)

Thanks guys.

I'd like to ask that any Grumblers who vote for me as the one you would most like to have as an employee please direct me where to send my resume. Thanks in advance!

Maybe a "none of the above" option would be good in the future, for this very situation?

It has been entertaining so far. Apparently im a big geek!
haha

Mike

CHEAT ALERT!!!!!

*Grumbler you'd most like to have cook you dinner
Wally
FramerGuy
Hobbes
Paul N
Betty Newman

Mmmmmm - Picture this - it's late August and we're gathered around the big wooden kitchen table with the red checkered tablecloth and the blue willow dishes. Sitting on the table is chicken and dumplins, fresh green beans with new potatoes, fresh corn on the cob, fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, and green onions, fresh fried okra, green tomato pickles and beet pickles. For dessert - fresh apple cobbler and maybe a cornmeal pie. And of course lots of sweet iced tea!

Yummmmm - yum!

Now, who ya gonna vote for?
thumbsup.gif
:D

Betty:

I would vote for the guy who would dish out the following menu:

Appetizer:

- German Potato salad: Dill, chopped onion, corn, chopped pickles, ch. Granny Smith Apple and Mayo.

- Chinese Dumplings (steamed / fried) with spicy Peanut Butter sauce

Main Course:

- Barbecued whole fillet Mignon (marinated with a secret recipe)

- Grilled whole curried onions

- Fresh Tomato Salad with Basil

Dessert:

-Baked pears in Cabernet / sugar reduction, drizzled with Chestnut Honey and shavings of finest Reggiano Parm. Cheese.

- Selection of Spanish Cheeses.

Wine? Don't get me started.... ;) And yes, ice tea also!

I could speculate on a menu, but it would really depend on what season and what's fresh at the produce department.
I could pretty much guarantee fresh fish...I mean fresh, like caught that morning. This week would include the first picking of the strawberries, and the first harvest of the Florida Ugly tomato (it illegal to export them from the state for commercial use during the winter months, so you won't see them unless you come here to get them).
Most of my meals are planned walking through the aisles of the grocery stores, produce markets, and perusing the roadside stands. It's hard to go wrong with the catch of the day.
Betty wins for freshness, and comfort food. Could you make a little browned flour gravy, please?

Didja ever notice that no matter what a topic starts out as on TG - - - it most likely ends up talking about food?
shutup.gif

Gotta start that diet
Uh - - - Maybe tommorrow
shrug.gif

what the hey Wally, slabs of Dolphin on the Q while we slurp up some stonecrab and Capt Jack's Widow Spankers . . . .ok ok, maybe a salad for the wife... :D

Once the water temp goes up a bit Baer (Know it really doesn't where you live, but cold water seafood ain't half bad), the Cobia start their migration through. Ain't nothin' finer than a thick filet grilled with a Dijonniase finish.

Mike, do you find that strange? Sharing a meal is one of the strongest bonding rituals we humans do...in public.

I would have done that :( but I didn't have much time and there were 36 categories!!!!

Um, well, maybe you should have narrowed down the number of categories.
shrug.gif

Dohhhhh!!!! ;)
shutup.gif

Oh, and the cooking category...Wally and Betty should host a combo dinner.
Fresh seafood and fresh vegies from the garden...what could be better than that?

Oh Man!
faintthud.gif
I forgot the cat-head biscuits and gravy!!! Aaaaaruuugghhh!

Will do, Wally!
thumbsup.gif

Well then, since we're having biscuits, too, I'll add homemade apple butter...

I think I found the compromise - "dinner" on the farm means Noon - We could do "dinner" at my place, then "Dinner" at Wally's... (Loosen the belt and hang on! :D )

Oh yah!
I do a little with fruit down here too...Calimundin Marmelade (No spelczek at home). The fruit is a very primative relative of the orange. The pulp is sour and the skin is sweet, makes a killer marmelade. Traveling from Betty's, I may just have to make you breakfast...let's start with shrimp amd grits (OK you can call it polenta if you must)...gosh, I hope Betty brings some fresh eggs and some home cured bacon...nothing, seriously, nothing beats a good country breakfast. I don't mean Cracker Barrel's Uncle whatshisname either (just ain't right!)

oh gosh! I haven't even read this topic until today so I didn't even know what it was all about!

I feel so honored that someone nominated me for "most like to meet"!!!!

I'd like to thank the academy........

someone here has made my day - I wish I knew who it was! Just the lift I needed too - I'm recovering from a stomach flu (no details - I'm sure you can figure it out for yourself) and a head cold all at the same time. I'm a wreck - but now I'm feeling happy and appreciated at least!

Now I need to go and vote - but I honestly don't know who I'd pick for some of the answers - some of the people I'm not very familiar with yet!!

ok - so I just filled out the poll and apparently I was a little hasty in my excitement because no one has voted for me yet!

I'm really a very nice girl......... and I'm pretty funny in person......... and..... and.......

ok - so at least the person who nominated me should vote for me, right??! LOL!!!

oh well - at least I made the list! LOL!!

Wally are "Calimundin" LIKE KUMQUATS? They sure sound alike and i have heard Kumquats make a very good marmelade.I am very fond of both Fresh kumquats and Orange ( and other varities)Marmelade.

I used to love Concord grape Jelly because they left the skins in and it was much like a marmelade.I liked spooning it over Blue Cheese or Stillton on crackers or English Muffins, with a good Port.
BUDDY

Buddy they are closely related.
This site gives a description of both of them as well as other citrus fruits.

I didn't realize until after I voted that I could vote for more than one on some of the categories. Ooops!

And, you know, like, thanks to all the people who voted for me on the eloquent-thingy category. Cool!

Seriously, I am honored to be in the running for the Grumbler you'd most like to work for. That makes me feel very good. :D

I didn't have a clue either Hanna. It would have been helpful to know while I was voting. You got my vote though.
thumbsup.gif

Same with the "Best one liner" category, I don't have a clue what one liner we were talking about. So, I had to vote on looks just like in the national elections.
thumbsup.gif

If I only picked one per catigory . . . do I get to go back in a vote a few more times; or do I have to go make-up 43 new framers to stuff the ballot box like FramerDave did last year . .

Oops!

Cats out!

Bag had a hole in it anyway. :D just teasing Dave.

There's still time to Vote!!! Get them in... and no stuffing the ballot box!!!

I think last year I recall that all of a sudden there were some new grumblers all at once with the same IP address but I think there was a close eye on them... so don't any one try it... or I'll beg Mike to sniff you out and expose!!!! :D :D

This is so fun!!

Handy- I'm sorry I didn't vote for you. I voted for all the people I nominated instead. I always thought you were an interesting person from your posts... so just ignore the results.... I wouldn't think very many people want to meet me either just by looking at the results ...but I still love'm!!

Um well... why is that I feel like I'm being attacked? Um I'm Sorry that I'm not perfect.

Angie,

Don't worry, we can talk amongst ourselves, just like we did waiting for the worst joke at Christmas, and there were 3 judges there. You're doing fine!
thumbsup.gif

PS I voted for you/against myself on the newbie award.

Somebody get some cold water....

Wally,

This lady is young enough to be my....... er......
my.......umm Younger sister!

(If my dad had divorced, had his operation reversed and re-married a much younger woman!)

thumbsup.gif

Robo, there were 4 judges not 3 for the joke contest. One was a very lazy head judge (me) who did not coordinate well. I like to blame it on you for mucking the contest up in the first go round. Yea, as it stands the plan is to not ever let you forget it either.
thumbsup.gif
We will see how you behave next year and I will reevaluate at that time.
kaffeetrinker_2.gif
Anyway, there is nothing to judge here, the winners are clearly obvious, just need to declare this one closed and put it away for another 8 months or so.......

That was my attempt at showing my skills as "Grumbel Peace Prize" winner............

Emibub - may I call you Kathy? Please call me John.

This year's worst joke is already sorted, I hope to not post anything else, just leave it until the very last, but I can't see it!

Hey, am I the only Brit nominee?

<strike>Robo</strike> John, there are no plans at this time for international categories, we're just one big melting pot of jokesters, feel free to submit your ideas to the Joke Contest Committee. All input is encouraged.

I won't hold my breath, I imagine you won't be able to wait even a month to post your joke.......

Kathy,

No no no, I mean the only Brit nominee on THIS POLL - after a quick check I'm sure I am.

I will only post my groaner if a worse one comes along. But, like the ex-tractor fan joke, it will relate to framing in some way!

Official "Grumbel Peace Prize" winner, 2006.
A tad premature, dontcha think?

Okay, maybe I'll concede the peace prize, unless there's money involved, but I refuse to believe there's actually anyone out there more HUGABBLE than me.

If/when this is all over, I trust we can each be as gracious, in victory or in defeat, as, say, the U.S. Men's Olympic speed skaters.
