No, I'm not on a poll-roll. I'm just curious about the relationship many of you seem to have with LaMarche moulding.

You don't have to take the poll to see the results and you don't have to be a LaMarche user.

Ron, I didn't answer for the follwoing reason ... I have some LaMarche profiles on my wall, but they are only ones carried by Don Mar who deliver to me by truck. If Don was/is out of stock on one of them (hasn't happened to me yet) it comes off the wall and stays off.

I wasn't sure how that should be answered for your question.

Ron,

I carry LaMarche, both directly and through a local distributor. I carry less now because I have pulled out of stocks and discontinued mouldings. I am not considering discontinuing the line as they have a selection of unique profiles and it seems that they are trying to deal with their problems. Not sure how that fits your poll. BTW when I voted the window failed to close - after 5 minutes I closed it. The results showed my vote and 2 selections that I didn't make - all with only 1 vote cast.

Pat :D

It seems my LaMarche poll is experiencing problems with a computer upgrade. Everything should be back to normal in a few years.

I hadn't thought about some of you getting LaMarche from a distributor. Cliff, you did the decent, honorable thing by abstaining.

Okay lets have a poll for every vendor why single out LaMarche? I disagree with this poll would like to see it removed. Agree disgree it is your privilege. Lets Have a poll about something useful

Why single out LaMarche?

Because every third post on TG and HH starts out, "Does anybody have enough LaMarche XXXXX to make a 20x24?"

I am curious about the level of loyalty that keeps so many of their samples on so many walls. Clearly, many framers feel that the product is special-enough to take a chance that it'll be in stock when it's needed.

This poll is not about bashing LaMarche. In my entire, sheltered life as a framer, I've never seen a better-looking line. But, if I'd planned ahead, a second question would have asked, "If you are not considering adding LaMarche to your selection, is your decision influenced by what you've read on The Grumble?"

Mine certainly is. I take isolated complaints with a grain of salt, but these particular problems are far from isolated.

IMHO, there is value to this excercise - If there are any other vendors watching, they will learn the effects of inconsistant customer service.

A poll for every vendor? The data would be cloudy, and become a popularity contest. This is not about comparing vendors to each other.

It is about the role of a vendor in the success of the independant frame shop. Maybe it's about a vendor splitting itself by entering new types of markets (gift & home decor) and not having the resources to be stable?

It's a story that starts in the global market and ends up on Main street America.

Picking on LaMarche? No, just a case study. 'Business 101' ala The Grumble.

I traded in my LaMarche samples years ago and picked up Max Moulding to replace them - haven't looked back.
