Looking for acrylic box source - not Superior

I’m looking for a source for acrylic boxes other than Superior. I placed an order six weeks ago. It appears that it has not been made yet and last night I received an email from Lois saying she has left the company. Any other companies you would recommend? Thanks!

I always used a local plastic fab shop in my area for many many years. There should be several in your Atlanta area.

Like Jerome, I have always used a local acrylic fabricator. There must be several good ones in your market, but be selective. In my experience, many of them build display cases for retail stores, and are not accustomed to our need for accurate dimensions and perfect edges. Be sure to thoroughly specify what you want, and emphasize your need for good workmanship.

I use "the other" Superior, run by Lois' son in Colorado. Always good work.

I am about to switch to them. I gave Bob in CA another chance - he told me the box was finished and would ship it. Because I have waited so long for it, and since it was the quickest box I could get now (how ironic) I told him to ship it.

I have been trying to get a tracking number since Friday - no response to emails and the phone voicemail is full. What a pathetic way to run a business.

I also recommend. They do a great job.

I've used Gemini Mldg. in IL a couple of times for both acrylic and cabinetry and been pleased w/the work.

Can't stress the emphasis enough. I found a local acrylic fabricator in my area and wasn't specific enough with my instruction. Ended up costing me a very good client and a few hundred dollars. Make sure your client knows that projects like this take more time than most and be prepared to make multiple trips to the fabricator to ensure the quality is on par at an early stage rather than a later stage.

Hope you can learn from my and the rest of the Grumbles experience! =)

Were you able to find a good source in the Atlanta area? I'm in Savannah and have been looking for a local source. So far, I've found a place called Custom Plastics in Atlanta that makes acrylic boxes but I haven't seen their work so I don't know about the quality. I would love to hear what you ended up going with. Thanks!

I once had the name of a fabricator near Atlanta that did work for our local museum, but I lost the info. Would be interested as well.

Be careful though. They just upped their minimum charge and the price of a small baseball box doubled because of it.

I second SmallCorp. I do a lot of business with them (about 30 boxes every 2 months). Great work but they do take a while (6-8 weeks) to deliver.

Anyone want to educate me on the 'other' superior?
