Does anyone have the name of a reliable double miter saw expert who can diagnose and fix our fairly new CTD saw's problems? The only person I know who used to offer such a service is Mike Reick, but he is not local to Northern CA. The valve that controls blade speed jumps around and is not reliable. Frames chip out at the back. Dust collection with the huge double bag Grizzley system is not optimal, and I am told that there is still a fine mist throught the saw room when using the saw.

We can't go through the manufacturer as thier service has been nonexistant since the purchase about 3 years ago. Their attitude was hostile at best. Most employees have reverted to using our very old Frame Square saw with a setup that does not contain dust adequately, but it does cut perfectly, as does our old Morso chopper.

We really need the double mitre saw to work well for production. I am happy to fly someone out here if we can get results.

    Frustrated in California...

We have an older CTD and looked for someone who could diagnose and repair ours too, last year, without any luck.
I hope someone here can offer some suggestions...

I'm no expert, but would start with freshly sharpened good quality blades. Then order new valve from CTD or check part number online. Fine dust in wood
    shop sounds "normal"?
For repair person, check with local wood shop equipment suppliers.

If your dust collector has bag filters, you realy need to get rid of them and use the cannister system like this:

g0562zp-8c205df841bcf57210f464a38d7126d8.jpg Those cannisters on top are WAAAAAAY better at collecting dust than those bag filters. I used to have a bag on mine and I could see the dust poof out of it when I turned the system on.

These things really hold the dust at an even finer size than the bags. Every so often, turn that handle to clear the pleats of the dust buildup and it floats into the lower plastic bag.
Not all that cheap but, well worth the cost.

Sorry i can't help you with your saw problem.
