Saw this in an ad for Questroyal Fine Art in this Sunday's New York Times Magazine and thought it was interesting:

    Why Art?

You may own the best gadgets, the coolest fashions, and the swiftest cars, but the next generation's hipper iterations have already been imagined. When all else is replaced, repaired, expired or obsolete only your paintings will remain and say the most about who you are and what you value.

I like it. Amazing how much $500 electronic carp is obsolete in a couple of months.

In some cases, like cruise ship masterpieces of Kincaids they will say "I am a sucker...."

I'm always tickled when Kinkade work gets singled out. It's been a few years, but we would do a happy dance when we saw a sleeve with light house on it. Those customers normally did high end framing with little price resistance.

They always generated pretty good revenue and honestly can't think of any other single artist that may have generated more framing sales than his art.

But will say we saw a ton o' stuff that made one wonder 'what were you thinking?'

like i said we went into 'happy dance'
