We need to narrow down the menu selections for the Grumble dinner in Atlanta.

I've posted the menu for the $35. price fix--like we did last year. With tax and Gratuity, it comes out to about $45. per person. Your dinner includes a starter, a choice of entree (from 3 selections) and dessert, also your coffee, tea or soft drink.

Any alcoholic drinks will be added to the base price, and it would be helpful if you could keep track of that yourself and inform the "accountant" at your table what your credit card should be billed at the end of the evening.

ALSO--if you are vegetarian, please let me know.

Three of us will be attending from GTP: Andrew Langlois, Mike Labbe, Dan Leone

Mike

PS: All of the choices sound great. Thanks in advance for your efforts!

Thanks Barb...sounds great!

I was thinking another thread for head count, but that might get confusing, so --

This is the place to be counted as well!

I was just in Atlanta last weekend and dined at McCormick and Schmick's (Fresh Crab Dip, the Salad with Bleu Cheese and Walnuts, Cashew Crusted Talapia with Jamaican Rum Butter--are you drooling yet?? yuuuummmm.) and I spoke to them about our dinner coming up.

GOOD NEWS: They remodeled part of the restaurant this past spring and they now have a semi-private banquet room (seats 72) that they will partition off one end for our party. I think it will be better this time as far as seating goes. Hope we get a good group like last year!

And we just got home from dinner out - it all sounds tasty

Might have to schedule a night out at
Mickey-Schmicks here in CLT to double check, though

Count 2 from Applewood....

depending on which night.....2-fer
cant wait to put faces to the names!!!!!!!!!!

Saturday 9/9/06

Please add two from Big Rapids MI -- Jeanne & Frank.

We met Jim at the Traverse City PPFA - we are looking forward to meeting more grumblers in Atlanta

PS We signed up for the trip quite some time ago. At that time they had not announced the classes...I have not seen any reference to the class schedule, have they released it yet?

Jeanne

Please add my name and a guest for dinner. (2 total) Last year was a hoot!

Great Poll, Barb! (Yay for the steak choice!!!)

Derek & myself will be there!

Checking in....
Yes, Saturday night it is, thanks Mike!
Looking like a good list going--keep signing up.

I was glad they added a steak choice also; last year there wasn't a steak choice until you got over the $50 mark, and I was getting ready to lobby for one this year at the suggestion of Grumblers, but no need. They had already included it on the new price fix menu.

Don't forget, let me know if there are vegetarians out there. Last year I know we had a couple, which is why I included the Pasta Primavera. Right now, that dish doesn't have many votes, but if it is necessary to include it for anyone to enjoy attending, then it should be a choice.

Mike, are you going to make those name tags again? I love the fact that you put our avatars on them--a big help!

Thanks all!

I will be there. I teach on Saturday so will stay and do the dinner after. It was fun last year.

No problem with the nametags. Ill try to make them bigger this year too. Some poeple couldnt see the names.

Well Cathie, that simply is NOT allowed!! You can't miss Atlanta for any reason short of a double lung bypass or maybe because you've gotten even better looking since I last saw you and you are in fear for your life!!

You and Barb (and Kit) ((oh, and Wally also))were my main reasons for going this year! Hang the show, trade shows come and trade shows go but good friends are few and far between and should be visited once in a while.<a href="http://plugin.smileycentral.com/http%253A%252F%252Fwww.smileycentral.com%252F%253Fpartner%253DZSzeb008%255FZNxmk788YYUS%2526i%253D29%252F29%255F1%255F3%2526feat%253Dprof/page.html" target="_blank">

Oh, my. I just checked back in. Tom, you don't know how much I'll miss seeing you in Atlanta! It's really "old times" and they were so much fun!

Thanx for the very kind words: they are much appreciated. I will think of you and all the Grs having all that fun. :(

BUMPED TO TOP

Who's coming to dinner?

Thanks Mike--you are a big help!

Time to start getting serious about signing up.
So far I have about 2 dozen people down--a far cry from last years' 42!

I'll try to check in a little more often during the next few weeks.

Cathie, we are going to miss you!
There are a couple of people I will really miss this year...(Kit? Pam? I'd love to see you ladies make the trip)

I'm not attending Barb, but, I had to butt in and say we just took Tim Franer to McCormick and Schmick's last weekend. It was excellent. I almost tried the tilapia, but I succumbed to the salmon stuffed with shrimp and brie.........it was a bit of alright!

Sure, fly into Atlanta on your private jet and don't bother telling Deb or Wally or me about it and ......................... uh, if I remember correctly, I had a job interview in the Oxford or the Harvard hotel or something like that back in the late 60's and there was a McCormicks Fish restaurant there.

Oops, ....... you probably took Tim there, eh?

............. Yeah, well this is an embarassing moment.

So, how ya been??

Framerguy

I haven't read the entire thread. I'm not sure if this is the right place or not but put me in for two if this is the signup!

Thanks.

I am out, too many things this year. I will go next time. I liked that better than Vegas. Plus less distractions.

Sorry

What is the grumbler's dinner? and when is it? I'm new to grumbling but I've just opened a frameshop in Lilburn(Atlanta suburb) maybe I should go. Kevaura

Welcome Kevaura!
The Atlanta Grumble dinner was started a few years back by our own Pam aka 'gemsmom'. Traditionally it is on the Sat evening of the Atlanta Decor market.

We get to meet new grumblers, get to see familiar ones, talk a little shop, eat good food, tablehop to meet more people, laugh a little too much--you get the idea.

Place: McCormick and Schmick's ground level of the CNN building
Time: 7:00.
Cost: approximately $45.00

I think it is most helpful to be able to put a face with a name, also to get a better handle on a person's personality than what you would online. We all have something in common which makes the ice break pretty easily.

I'm most likely the shyest person in the crowd, and even I managed to walk into the first dinner not knowing a soul...and I sat by Wally and Pam.
It was a fun evening....

Sign up here if you decide to dive in.

Great advice Barb. I just signed up for my three days at the Expo. So please sign me up for 1 at the dinner. It sounds like the perfect way to end the day. I'm diving in. Kevaura

Please add 4 under my name!! Can't wait to meet everyone!!

Not sure yet whether I'll make it to Atlanta this year but if you're taking "maybe's" count me in. Sure hope to see all of you!

I dunno Barb, I've been to the last few shows and managed to keep from meeting any Grumblers!

Looking forward to seeing these personalitites in action.

Count me in!

Last year was an evening of great food and fellowship. I have continued with my "Southern Speak" education and recently learned, "Jeet jet". (Which translates to: did you eat yet?) Isn't that amazing?! I have no idea what I will learn from this fascinating crowd this year, but I can't wait to find out!

Carol, you think I need to yankee it up for yous guys this year?

Kevaura, my wife and I went to the Omni Bar the night before. We ended up meeting and eating out that night some future life long friends. By the time we made it to our first Grumble Dinner, the next night, it was already like a big dysfunctional family. In this family, I'm kind of like the drunk cousin with a wife way out of his league that keeps him out of trouble. It will be nice to meet you. Look for me in the bib overalls and the john deer cap.

Hi Jay H,
I'm looking forward to meeting you and the classy wife and hearing more about what you are doing with the store. I will be wearing grumbler green (which could also be in support of John Deere but I grew up with Massey red.)

I have my grumble green shirt ready to go!

Mike

What?! There's a grumbler "wardrobe" now, too?? Maybe it's just an insider thing from last year, and not for the uninitiated?

Yeah, that's it. I'm sticking with that.

See y'all this weekend!

Jennifer,
You have spent somewhere around 10 hours on the trade show floor/ in class. If you can muster a smile you would be most welcome.

There isn't any special Grumbler attire. Last year, by chance, Mike and I just happen to wear green. By coincidence, the little Grumber tag is green. And so, I have jokingly referred to it as 'Grumler Green'. But there isn't any special Grumber clothing.
However, it might be neat if people did wear something green (that was visible) that day. But it is not a requirement; it's hard enough to get people to the same place at the same time without making a dress code. :D
