This shiny slick surface show everything from the substates. Any suggestions? Getting ready to try MountCor board I got from Larson Juhl. Even regular AF board did not look slick smooth with just hinging to mat. Thanks!

Why not HDF? Masonite.

Wilson is right. DiBond is the smoothest surface to use for this application. I think Kool Tack makes something similar called "Competition Plate".
Thanks! Is that similar to Coroplast? My vendors dont carry DiBond. Where do you purchase your DiBond?

DiBond is one brand of aluminum composite material (ACM), which is commonly used for signage and graphic display applications. Sign-making distributors usually have it. It is a hard-surfaced board consisting of thin aluminum sheets sandwiched over a plastic core, such as PVC. Several finishes are available. Cutting this type of board can be done using special rotary (twin-disc) cutting tools, saws, and some types of blades.

As noted above, Kool Tack's Competition Plate is ACM coated with their heat-activated adhesive, and it works very well. Since most framers do not possess the proper tools to cut ACM, your Kool Tack distributor can supply Competiton Plate cut-to-size.

I cut ACM on my Fletcher wall mounted cutter. It comes with a cutting insert that has 2 wheels and it cuts it and the edge is ever so slightly rolled in.

It's two thin sheets of aluminum with a polyethylene core - there is solid core ACM and there is broken core ACM, opt for the solid core if you can.

Well stocked plastics distributors will carry a variety of options, be weary of the budget offerings as these usually will have dents and other imperfections that will not be suitable for fine art applications.

ACM is best cut on a table saw with a proper blade, or with a router, this will maintain a square edge.

You don't want to try this by hand.

The edges will be sharp! You must sand the edges prior to handling / mounting.

That is an ACM, yes. This is not similar to coroplast.

This should be what you are looking for.

I've never seen it with a heat activated adhesive before, let me know how it works out for you!
