Prices of laminate flooring has really come down over the years. Check out the home centers and you should find it for under $1. sf. They should have a special tool you can rent to make cutting it easy. Kind of like a rotary paper trimmer (except it has a saw blade) and it is manual powere.

Bamboo is great.

Check out a Sam's Club or Costcos if you have them.

It holds up the same as wood flooring (is what I've been told) and yes, they do sell it at HD. I am considering it for our kids' bedrooms (have ugly stinky greenish carpet there now :vomit:)

Again, from what I've been told; it is harder than wood, so better scratch/dent resistant. You can also sand and refinish it when necessary. It doesn't warp. It's less expensive than most woods. HD here does install it and it still is less than $5/sq.ft. (this was last year, haven't looked in the mean time)
As with everything; lowest price is lower quality. However, I did find some at 1.99/sq.ft last year that looked good enough to me....

Oh, and...

I have laminate floors. Don't do it!!! Especially with kids' classes. You have to be very careful about it not getting wet. I have a huge mat right at the front door, and any spills that get on the floor (from rain, snow) I wipe up quickly.
Go bamboo!

Oh, if we do come down, it had better be good beer! None of that Bud Lite carp or beer with weird flavors in it! Our preferred brands are Point and Sprechers (Amber or darker) but Spotted Cows from New Glarus or Leinie's Reds will do in a pinch.
Good to see a fellow craft beer lover on here. I'm from L.A. so we don't get New Glarus out here but I've heard about their beers. Hopefully I'll get to try one some day!

Good beer and moving...don't they go hand in hand?

Indeed....but you're bound to have a better selection of the Sierra Nevada beers at hand. Can't go wrong there!

We just finished moving from about 1800 sq ft to 600 sq ft (really)
Overhead dropped over $1500/month. Ironically we moved from the streetfront to a rear building and GAINED visibility (80 feet across the parking lot). Fresh start and a unified look make it a much better-looking and professional spot. Starting "fresh" allows for complete reorganization of work flow, etc. Every customer has had praise for the new spot and we've seen a NEW customer every day since the move.
Tech-wise we had to make some changes - one PC to run the whole shop (wizard, visualization and POS), no catalogs except on line. Kept our EPSON printer and photo studio. Lost the unproductive and poor selling readymades.
SO FAR it's been better than we could have expected. First mailing goes out this week so we'll see what happens then. A terrific opportunity to reinvent and refine your business. GOOD LUCK!!

Thanks John. We moved about 100 feet. Really. For the effort, cost, blood sweat and tears it could have been across town. But business is UP and things are looking great!

Do you use LifeSaver? When I moved I had to get them to update my address and info. Also had to do it for PowerPay. No biggie, the biggest headache was getting the DSL connected :)

Ernastine: One Ringy Dingy; Two Ringy Dingy.... Hello Skraggly A$$ Artist. This is your third and final call about your worthless art. You have exactly 1000 ringy dingys to pick up this carp. The ladies from the Goodwill store were here the other day I told them I would be donating it to them but they want no thing to do wid it. My niece is on the HS archery team and said that they need sum new targets so they will take it. You have 999 ringy dingeys left or arrows away

OHhhhh BAMBOO............would that hold up pretty well to kids art
classes yah think?? Hmmmm Wonder if Home Depot sells it.....
I have seen Bamboo at Lowe's. Whatever you do, don't get the cheapest stuff. My sister is redoing a house with wood and went to get the onsale stuff....sure it's 88 cents a foot, but it has a 10 yr warranty and is about as thick as saltines. She is now waiting for her tax return in the spring so she can get the floor with a 55 yr warranty.

So... what's Steve Tyler... about 70? :faintthud:

He's definitely getting long in the tooth.

Alot of these old geezers need to move out of the way and let the next generation get it on...or in their case the next 3 generations.

Glad you like to rock out to the oldies!! Was Sha-Na-Na their opening act?
