On the underpinner facebook page it was mentioned about age groups and the lack of younger generation and framing.

I am currently developing a whole new range of reports for our software and thought i could add age to it as well.

So the framer will be able to select a number i.e 1-4 which is an age range. i.e under 25, 25-40, 40-60, 60+

Do you think these ranges are enough. I know myself if i am guessing someones age, i could be within 20 years. so i don't feel the ranges should be too tight. We don't want to ask customers the age, it will just be a guess and quick select the range number while entering customers details.

The we can develop reports by age, visits, spending amounts, and even artwork types.

Any inputs greatly appreciated.

I think I'm missing something here. What do you need peoples age for regarding framing or your software?

It's just standard demographics. Same as you might look at the age demographics of a suburb you might want to set up shop. If you were setting up shop for elderly accessories you would want be in a suburb/area, where the average pop. age was above 55.
So knowing what age groups are framing and what type of artwork and average spend etc. Can you give you some insight on marketing to each of those groups. It's just an idea as we are always looking for ways to help framers improve their business.
I myself (if you notice any of my posts) are only interested in the business side of things. Anything i can do to help run, automate, increase profits, decrease costs etc is what i am into.
We have a mixed bag aged clientele, but without looking at any reports, while under 25's are the least customer group, they probably spend more per frame.

Sounds OK to me.

Knowing your clientele helps when marketing.

I probably would do 25-, 25 - 44, 45 - 64, 65+

Partly because it makes the middle groups both 20 years, and by going to 65 at the top you are more likely to be putting just retirees in that group (which would seem to me to be a significant factor).

According to https://marketingartfully.com/customer-demographics-age-demographics-for-advertising/ this is how most people break down age ranges:

12 – 17
18 – 24
25 – 34
35 – 44
45 – 54
55 – 64
65+

Without knowing the actual age, I think combining every two two groups makes sense too.

You could do it the way Google does it for Google Ads:

18-24
25-34
35-44
45-54
55-64
65+

I'm catching what you're throwing now. Thanks for the explanation!

I've not experienced the under 25's spend more per frame. In fact, quite the opposite for me. I've chaulked it up to simply not having as much expendable income as those 40+, but interested to hear others experiences.

But that lumps me in with the 64 YOs. And I am nowhere near that. In my mind.
