I sometimes forget.
I forgot the "Y". But I think it still works, she said very facetiously.
Boy, that was a lot of work just to prove a point............
Yesterday I posted a message to the PPFA online exchange (Hitchhikers) inviting members who are not regulars to The Grumble to come over and participate in some of the great discussion here - like this one.
In fact, here is the full message:
Most people wouldn't accuse me of being overly serious on The Grumble, but if any of those HHers actually take my advice, they are going to think we are a bunch of idiots.
Please ignore my inappropraite use of the word "prodigal." It slipped out in a moment of total ignorance.
Oops, mea culpa Ron. I got it off track, didn't mean to. But in all honesty you covered it with the comment about "silliness and banter who some find annoying".
I can see your concern though. It is like cleaning up your house and inviting someone in to show off and meanwhile the "kids" have come through and messed it all up for you. Sorry, I will behave.
That wasn't directed at you specifically, Kathy. We all do it. The ability to Frankenthread is what appeals to many users and annoys others - especially if they haven't had a chance to get to know us.
The casual visitor may think this is the Mad Magazine of the framing world, but I'm not seriously suggesting we change anything. The timing was just a little weird.
My efforts to revive the Colorado PPFA Week One:
I contacted the PPFA on Monday. In actuality I think I contacted the PMA. I got passed around to a couple of people, left a message and honestly proceeded to forget about it.
Made a new attempt on Friday. Of course it was late on Friday and everybody was gone for the week. I once again left a message............we will see what happens on Monday.
Conclusions for week one. I gave a lacklustre attempt at contact. I get very discouraged by redtape etc. I attempted second contact but I have to say if I can't get any enthusiasm from them how will I possibly get the enthusiasm here? I may be forced to branch out and start my own group "KFFA", Kathy's Framing Friends Alliance". I wonder if I could get them to pay the dues directly to me?
I am really surprised that you haven't gotten any response. Becky Zimmerman at PMA/PPFA is the person you want to contact. She was a tremendous help to us and very enthusiastic.
Ruth, If I don't hear from anyone on Monday I will ask for Becky. I'm not sure who I left a message with............my heart and soul may not have been in it. I already have one recruit though, she is a friend and I asked if she would participate and she said "sure". So, we are now a chapter of 2. I told her I was nominating her as president and she declined however............
But on the plus side membership has doubled since Monday.

I still haven't figured out how to use Hitchhiker. I know that is dumb, but how do I get started?
I promise to behave there.
Susan, everything you need to know about HH, or the Online Exchange is in the user guide. This will tell you how to subscribe, how to use it and even how to unsubscribe.
Don't worry about behaving. Merrill, the list-owner, is tough. He makes framer look like a pussycat.
And, BTW, our industry needs both of these guys and the services they provide.
Thank you Ron. I am signed up.
Kathy you can contact ANY PPFA administration person by Email by useing their first initial and last name with@PMAI.org.My best contacts are Cathy Filter and Ron Rowley (Cfilter@PMAI.org or Rrowley@PMAI.org).
However you are correct about there not being anyone in the office on weekends ,But some do read their email at home and even if they don't it will be there waiting for them bright and early Monday morning.
However I hear tell that some very influential PPFA members are also Grumblers so your problems may have already been noted.I bet PPFA will be only TOOOOO happy to help you start another chapter.
