Payment Transfer Question

Does it work to use an Acer Chromebook, which is android app capable (and made in the last year or two), to send the amount from a paycheck to a bank account? One of our helpers has no smart phone and their bank (Wells Fargo) has no branch here. They've been mailing their checks two states away, but one got caught in a time warp and caused difficulty.

We know that opening a new account here is an option, but they plan to keep the first one open, and can't afford the fees for keeping a low balance in two accounts. They do have this Chromebook, though, so thus, the question. We're willing to pay in cash, but am also asking for other checks they get.

It depends. Wells Take My Money and Run Fargo has a mobile deposit app. Whether it runs on a Chromebook is iffy. Some Android apps run on a Chromebook, some don't. I bought a Chromebook as a replacement for an Android tablet because it had Android app compatibility. I returned it after a day because the compatibility was really hokey.

Larry - I have long thought the bank's lawyers are Dewey, Chetham and Howe.

Can't you do a transfer from your business account directly to her personal bank account?

We pay all our employees by "direct deposit". We use ACH, which does cost a monthly fee to have the setup at our bank (I think it's $35/mo or something like that), and we also use it to do some other vendor payments, and we can (and do) use it to collect payments from a few of our larger customers.

Unless you've already checked into it, I would suggest talking to your bank and tell then what you're trying to accomplish and see what they say.

We have a customer whose Caller ID reference is Cheatham. So far, they haven't.

In my limited experience, you can transfer money directly into a bank account. All you need is the bank's Swift Code and the account number. I receive payments from an international client that way.
