    Happy new year!
Our Pistorious EMN-12 double miter saw has a developed a cold and I am not sure how to fix it. We are still using it despite the air leak. Air leaks from the filter that is supposed to collect water. It's next to the oil compartment on the left side of the operator. Nothing looks broken. Any suggestions? Can the air filter be purchased? I am not even sure if it is necessary to keep it in the line.
    Thank you,
    Bruce

You can perform a leak test with some soap and water brushed onto the different connections of the assembly with a brush. Bubbles will be produced where there is an air leak. From that info, it might be as simple as tightening that specific joint or lubing and or replacing a gasket.

Thank you. It leaks from the very bottom of the filter where there is a small hole. There is a white release button to push to release the water inside thru that hole.
The spring mechanism seems to work but the air is escaping.
I see a rubber washer under the filter but can't figure out how to remove it.

If there is no way of dismantling the unit it sounds as if you may be better off replacing it as a whole. They should be available from any place which sells air tools.

Harbor freight is your best bet for price

Yes, it's best to use the filter, because the life of any pneumatic device is reduced by untreated air. The best service life comes from using compressed air that is clean, dry, and lubricated very close to the machine. Placing an air filter/moisture-trap/lubricator several feet away from the machine reduces its benefit, since the length of air line between the machine and the filter/moisture-trap/lubricator can condense moisture and shed debris.

Air filter/moisture-trap/lubricators are cheap, compared to the devices they protect. In my shop, every pneumatic machine has its own mounted at the air intake.

I see that many of the Pistorious saws out there aren't pneumatic. The air filter is not available by itself but the whole assembly is available from Harbor Freight and on also eBay.
    Thank you.
