Here's mine. I just started it last week (with the help of my daughter!) It doesn't have much on it yet, but you're welcome to check it out (and "Like" it, I hope :) )

I plan to go through everyone's facebook pages posted here in the near future. I've already checked out Nicole's (blackiris) and John Barlowe's (jPaul) and was suitably impressed!

I have finally added all of my catboxes to my FB page, including my frame shop with new photos and also an album of the frames artwork on the walls.

I persuaded a lot of local artists to make miniature artworks by handing them tiny frames and telling them to make something to fit. A lot of them got carried away and made multiple pieces. :)

Well I've posted my FB link but am ashamed at how out of date it is. I must get more up to date with social media and get it working for me.

I would welcome suggestions as to how you guys use Facebook and any other social media to promote your businesses.

Nicole,

Seeing what creative things that other framers are sharing with their FANS (I like the old FB term better) is good to see and may give us all new ideas on how to promote. However, the goal is really not to get other framers to be building our LIKE count, but rather to get customers, their friends and other potential customers to LIKE us, as Dave commented below...

The thing is, all these likes by our peers is not helping any of us with our marketing. We need to get likes from customers and potential customers. This is my real challenge. When I look at my likes 95% of them are either other framers or personal friends.
We currently have 1727 LIKES of which 206 are FRIENDS... I certainly appreciate when friends LIKE our business page....but I want that critical mass of LIKES to increase elsewhere too. We have mostly achieved this by promoting our postings from time to time. I believe that a number of framers have used the promote feature. Previously we also used some paid ads as well.

BTW - I love your entrance photo on your FB Page Frame Studio Newton... I'd almost be tempted to trade it out with the cover picture...you have a very inviting entrance...

I also love the interior panoramic cover photo of Hanging Around Hoover's FB Page

The Frame and I FaceBook Page made me stop... The images posted grab your attention. This image in particular would be a good one to promote I would think...

In case you find this sort of stuff interesting.... I looked at 50 Retail pages posted here that had Likes. I didn't count the few distributors or those outside of the framing industry.

The Mean Average = 294 LIKES
The Median = 196 LIKES

Well here something.... When I like a page... The people I'm friends with also like the page.
Are you seriously picking apart who likes certain pages?
I don't give a whooooie if they are all friends of mine.... A lot of them reshare what I do and you know what... Maybe someone will see it and come to my shop or go to someone else's shop Bd have something custom done.

How many people reshare the stuff you do on your web page? How many people single out one picture and comment on it and share the idea with their friends???

A like is a like..... The more the better.

Agreed Nicole... Don't get your undies in a bundle! ;) As I stated...

And as you commented, it all helps...but we certainly want the most potential customers, too.

Thanks John.
Years ago the landlord wanted to cement over the garden area under the awning....I begged him not to.
The planter box with the sign is new this summer. Every couple of years I change the landscaping to keep it fresh.

I tried the store front picture as the cover picture but the format was off the way it was cropped. I have to take more pictures.

Margot,

As you perhaps already know, you can crop your image using any type of editing software to the preferred size of 851x315 pixels for a FB Cover image.

Related to this thread is a very good brief read from American Express: Your Company Facebook Profile, Optimized. This is one of the most interesting excerps...

Angela Stringfellow - Open Forum said:
...Use your cover photo wisely. Facebook business pages feature a large cover photo at least 399 pixels wide. Formerly, it was against Facebook’s guidelines to include a call-to-action or marketing message within the photo—but that changed in March 2013. Use your cover photo to ask visitors to “Like” your page or direct them to a special offer within your tabs.

John

$16,000 a month for my last year. I was there for 21 years.

I now moved to a office space on the 9th floor and pay substantially lower.

Nice but I don't even want to guess at what your monthly rent is on the Upper East Side. Probably more than my annual sales.

Yesterday I liked one of the framers FB page above
And to my amazement another FB friend was informed I had liked the page.
Most of my FB friends have nothing to do with framing, so its of no interest to them I "liked" a framers page

Can someone please explain if this will happen each time I like a FB page?

Once you like a page or something, Facebook lets everybody knows that you did. There is no expectancy of privacy on Facebook.

And if you "like" a product, you may be used as a shill to promote it to others- without your knowledge or specific consent.
