I have a couple of Renoir reproductions on high quality paper. It has a stamp on the back (something about Paris) and also says Reproduction reservee S.P.A.D.E.M. Paris on the back. It is about 20 x 25 and is titled "On the Terrace". I was wondering if anybody knows what its worth, before I start framing it.

My smarta$$ answer is "Not as much as you think, unless it belongs to a customer and you spoil it."

I can always count on Ellen to cut right to the chase.

I would treat them as valuable and use preservation framing techniques.

Actually about 5 years ago, I had a very wealthy ( art collector ) client that I used to do alot of framing for. He gave me these two prints as a holiday gift, so I thanked him and put it away ( those were the good old days of non stop customers ). So this week, I started cleaning out my back room and rediscovered these. The paper is pretty thick and looks to be in great shape. I was going to frame these, but was wondering what to value them on. I dont want to underprice them. Thanks.

Just Google it ! : )

Hey Bill,

Found plenty of info on Google . . .

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Societe_de_la_Propriete_Artistique_et_des_Dessins_et_Modules
Société de la Propriété Artistique et des Dessins et Modules, often S.P.A.D.E.M. or SPADEM, is a copyright protection and collection society formed by visual artists and their heirs in France.

From forum at http://antiquesandthearts.com/forumresponse.asp?var=77&var2=1
I also have a Pablo Picass reproduction reservee S.P.A.D.E.M. Paris number 01604, Title Juan-Les-Pins 1924, Les editions Braun ET CIE, Paris and I would like to know if it has value.

From art site http://www.wheelcare.org/gallery/index.html lots of references to SPADEM.

Cheers,
Les
