I am looking for a source for a standing frame, easel style, to hold large items while I sew them to backing for shadow box framing. I've looked online at quilting frames but not what I want. I am pretty sure I'm gonna' have to have a carpenter construct what I want. Any ideas? Thank you.

Hi, Melinda. Could you give an example of one such large item? Are you imagining the object against the mat, which rests against the easel/frame back, or some other set-up?

Hey Y'all, I want to have the foam core and jersey held upright and be able to get access to both sides, front and back. K's has a rug frame I am gonna' check out. Thank you for the other source ideas.

I sit at my work table on a folding chair and let the work hang over the edge of the table enough that I have access to both the front and the back. I usually put a weight bag onthe table at the other end of the piece so it doesn't slide away from me. I also prop it up with something underneath so it is actually at an angle.

I do that exact thing and I'm tired of it. It and I are getting old.

Too funny!! I do it sitting down BECAUSE I'm getting too old to stand for that long!!

I've never been able to do any aspect of framing seated. It's either standing or, in this case, crouching.. which does become more difficult with aging.

Rick, at some point "crouching" will be your usual stance!!
