I have an avocado 40 year old cooking pot (that was from the first set of cookware I ever bought when I got my first apartment) that is the absolute perfect pot for making popcorn.
I use it for nothing but that.

So much science!!

Am I the only one here who just boils the billy and chucks a teaspoon of instant into a mug with milk and sugar?

And just when I was getting the hang of BritSpeak, we now have AusSpeak. A translation might be in order for those of us deficient in AusSpeak.

I have never even had a sip of coffee and after 47 (nearly 48) years I don't plan on starting anytime soon.

Billy-can. You boil it up over your camp fire. ;) Or failing that, use a kettle.

# Once a jolly swagman camped by a billabong
Under the shade of a coolibah tree,
And he sang as he watched and waited till his billy boiled:
"Who'll come a-waltzing Matilda, with me?"

Pick the bones outta that mate. :kaffeetrinker_2:

You've never taste coffee? Good Heavens man, that's not normal. :kaffeetrinker_2:

I got the impression that you Aussies take your coffee very seriously. When we ordered "coffee" in restaurants during our recent Sydney/Brisbane/Melbourne teaching tour, they brought us "long black", which apparently is a double espresso. It wasn't until the 8th day of the trip that we learned "percolated" coffee is the Australian equivalent to our American coffee, and some restaurants don't even offer it.

Probably!
I know a few people who use instant, but not many!

I can just imagine a blazing fire in your worshop with a billy hanging on a wire, in the flames from moulding offcuts, with noxious fumes coming off the compo, every time you have a cuppa!

Jim:
"American coffee"/percolated coffee is not very common down here, as you've discovered. I have tried some 'American coffee' in your country a couple of times and it varied in strength quite a bit. I recognize that it's not really a 'way of life' for us down here. I don't think we have a 'generic coffee' and most people order a specific type!
Cappacino is very popular along with a lot of other varieties at coffee shops, cafes and restaurants.
We have a pod machine at home, but drink tea much more often than coffee! Black for me!

Larry:
See the traditional 'billycan' known as a 'billy' here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billycan

[strike]You don't know what you're missing.[/strike] That's OK... leaves more for the rest of us.

You can have mine too. I have had at most 3 sips of coffee in my life, all under duress (maybe this will sober up this sucker), the last being around 1964.

figured why start another thread.. but now a Joyanns is moving in the mall up the road from me. not sure if they will have framing yet. Couldn't see enough of the store since its to blocked off to tell yet. opening in a few days or so.

I don't think they all do, and it be a crummy location for framing as in... very hard to get the picture to the car.

Puppies... YES, this should be another thread. :) As this would be the second diversion of this thread.

I am not positive but I believe that is typically the JoAnns Super Stores that offer custom framing.

This hasn't seemed to stop them nor their other big box brethern from expanding over the years nor the thousand of customer who carry art into them from some pretty giant parking lots. Cosumers will do all sorts of things if they feel that there is a benefit.

starbucks generates a lot of traffic in front of the store now. they have a line all day long... well until around 2 or so, then there are still people, but no real line. it was built as a drive thru mostly.
