OK....did a quick Google on these and they are all in the $1,100 - 3,800.

There's no way that a wildlife print produced on clay-coated stock is demanding that kind of price in the middle of this recession? is there?

If it's a 'sold out' edition, it depends on who's holding the inventory. The secondary market can be propped up by some deep pocketed dealers.

Some aren't feeling the recession as hard as others.

I think there is someone in Menomonie that has these. I will check with them and give them your contact info.

I was a Terry Redlin dealer for most of the first 10 years I had my gallery in IL. He is a much sought after wildlife artist and he has many many sold out editions. With that said, most of his editions were up in the high thousands which took them out of the limited edition range in my opinion.

His "Country Doctor" series was sold out within a few months of each of the print's issue dates. They immediately shot sky high on the secondary market and stayed there as did so many of his other editions.

If you have access to a recent copy of the Art Expediter or know of anyone in your area who subscribes to it, I would check the current prices for those prints in that listing. It is a much more realistic reflection of the current supply and demand for most of the popular prints on the market. I used it exclusively to buy prints on the secondary market and to set my retail prices for my LE prints when I was selling prints. There are other listings but they usually reflect someone's estimation of what the prints are worth. The Expediter will be a realistic price for whatever the current real world selling price might be and is driven purely by who has what and who is buying what ............... the old version of "supply and demand".

I would expect that you could find those prints separately for under a thousand dollars per, but a matching numbered set of all four prints will run substantially more per print. Those sets are very hard to find anymore as most of them were pre-ordered by dealers like myself who had specific print #'s reserved through Hadley House for any and all LE prints published by Redlin and other popular artists of the era. We had a standing order for those prints and they were generally sent unannounced to us as they were issued.

Hello John - I know this is a very old thread, I was researching the value of a set of Artists Proofs I have of the Country Doctor series, all never framed and stored properly, all numbered 94AP. Are you still searching for these? Jeannie

    Hi Jeannie,

This is indeed an old thread, and I am not sure that I could even track down my customer who really wanted these.

Send me a PM with what you want for the set of four prints and I will start to see if I can locate this potential buyer. Normally I do very little with LE prints that are printed lithography or Giclees. If we put money into art inventory in our shop we tend to focus on Serigraphs, Etchings, Engravings and a few Mono-prints.

Thank you for the reply, that is just it, I have no idea what they are worth - I know what we purchased them for back in the early 90s but I am trying to find someone to properly appraise them for me. I realize I will not be able to sell them for art dealer retail, but I would like a fair price as it seems to be rare to find a set like this. I am willing to pay for the appraisal, and sooner or later I will find a dealer to do so, but researching it on my own, I found this old thread. If you do run across your customer, or someone else who is interested, keep this in mind. Much appreciated! Jeannie

You can actually do your own appraisal if you wish by searching for and documenting multiple asking prices from retail sources. You could then also search for these on Ebay and examine asking price and realized price. This would give you a good ballpark of the high to middle ground. Compare that to what you paid, and your asking price to MOVE the prints is probably somewhere in between.

It's interesting, but I can't actually find a signed, same numbered set of the artists proofs in this condition to compare pricing. I'll keep at it, and your advice matches my instinct, so that helped. Jeannie

Do a search for each single title...you might have more luck.

Also searching for Images rather than websites might yield results....

Thank you, does it add value that they are a matched set? I can go out and find the value for each single title and then add?

The matched numbers may add a little premium to the price but is more novelty than reality so just depends on the buyer.
