I have received my very first T K****** to frame. And, honestly - everything everyone has said is true. If they spend alot of money on the print, they spend alot on the framing. Customer did not flinch with a lovely selection of moulding, mat, etc. Bring 'em on!!

The other first is kinda yukky - I found my first "critter" in a canvas of a customer... tried to scope it out under the lupe - but all I could see after I smashed it were lots of teeny-tiny legs on this pinhead size critter. yuk. I hope it didn't lay any eggs during it's short stay here in the frame shop.

Any advice on the critters appreciated.

And a question on the TK stuff... do you usually leave the title and the foil-stamped trademark stuff to the far left and far right showing?!? It is very close to the image area and in order to make title openings would be too narrow (I think) to cut... His sig and # are within the image area...

Thanks, Roz

Roz, leave the title and stamp and any other gingerbread showing on the K****** print. People who buy his work are very proud of all the doo-dads.

Then take the critter out of the canvas and seal it up with the K******.

And since I just happened to be reading when this thread came up, let me beat everyone else to the punch and say,

"Ah, TWO critters in the same day!"

All of my clients who've brought in TKs (and fortunately they're few) have wanted to show the signature, etc. That way it's obvious that they paid more for the print than for the same image on the shower curtain, the pillows, the throw, the potholder and the tablecloth. Have to go... my phones' ringing. Must be TK's lawyers calling now.

I really love to frame TK prints; we are able to really add to the basic frame package with brass name plates, suede mats, fillets etc. It seems that there is no end to the amount of money they will pay. We offer to hang them also for a nice fee. We get the clients approval to cover the signature etc and add the name plate. The signature etc. is still there but it makes a nicer package when covered and you do not have a white strip to match with anything. Transfers are a different story, we frame them as if they were oils but we encourage the addition of museum glass between a liner and the frame. Always place theaaa Certificate of Authenticity in an envelope on the back of the print.

We're with Jack -- Almost all of our TK collectors "understand" that their latest investment deserves nothing less than double or triple mats (of course, suede is the ONLY choice for the top mat) along with a fillet. And that last elegant touch is always a "Custom-made" brass plate with the title and artist's name.
