The show dates this year are January 27th- January 30th.

Each year people start posting deals for hotels, flights and entertainment. It's a great way to save money and for planning any get together.

Rob's Chinese Dinner is always a must do.

2 years ago many went to see a Pink Floyd tribute band, last year it was the Cirque show at the Mirage.

Mary (Maja) was the driving force behind a buffet meal at the Wynn (3 years running now) She'll need to book an entire wing soon.

Shows:

Lady Gaga (January 26th), at MGM Grand.

Faith Hill & Tim McGraw (January 25, 26) at the Venetian.

While at the Mirage last year, I joined their MLife club.

I received an email with some offers and I just called to see what they had. They are offering rooms for $39.00 a night for the time frame of the show.

The Mirage will add a resort fee.

That's a great price!

Last time I got rates that cheap in Vegas was during the 5 year long union strike at the Frontier during the 90's. The new towers were beautiful and as long as you got a room way up you didn't have to listen to the strikers yammering on the bull horns.

Lady Gaga? OMG, who wants to go? Looking at tickets right now...

The resort fee is now 25.00 a day (for a newspaper and free internet wifi) The service rep said I should talk to my casino host and ask about having the fee comped.

I don't think Lady Gaga tickets are on sale yet, but I'd go see her.

There is only one Gaga date, Friday, 1/25
Tickets are on sale through resellers but don't seem to be up at MGM Grand.
Tickets are VERY expensive and are almost sold out.

Oh well. No Bad Romance :-(

ME!!!!!! I wanna go see her!!!!!!

Might have to make this a girls/birthday weekend!!!! ;) ;) ;)

I felt the same about Lady Gaga. But then I saw her on a morning show, and I gotta say, I was impressed that it's all her up there. She was singing, and playing the piano. I have nothing but respect for people that are also their own song writers.

We're gonna have to throw a bachelorette party too while were out there...
OH and Chickie and I have some plans............
Buuuuahahahahhhaha ha hhh ahahhh ha ha ahhha haaaaaaaaa!

Lady Gaga? OMG, who wants to go? Looking at tickets right now...
Not me, Kirstie. I wouldn't even go if you paid my airfare from Australia! Yuuuukkk!

Wow! You guys are starting early! I don't have the energy to deal with it yet, lol. Great price on the room Mark! If anyone can pull off getting the fee comped it would be you, lol.

From the MGM website. Tickets on sale this Friday. Anyone else wiling to pay the top price?

$229.70!!!!! OUCH!

I can get a massage in my hotel room and it would still
be cheaper for the room and "handling fees". :D

This will be my first year attending the WCAF show. Looking forward to it. Hopefully soon they will post what programs will be going on so that I can plan ahead.

$169 for Lady Gaga? Don't think I can swing that. Plus it's on the night before. So I don't think I'll worry about it.

I'll let the Becky the Gaga Stalkeroni have her fun ;)

The only thing for certain is that the Chinese Dinner is on Tuesday night the 29th. We hope you will join us. Do a search and you will find lots of info from years past. I expect we will sell out again this year, so look for the sticky that Mike puts at the top of the Grumble Forum starting the week after xmas for details and a link for the ticket form.

Once again the PPFA Convention and the WCAF are co-located so there will be educational opportunities from Sunday through Wednesday. Many of us plan on arriving Saturday and leaving Wednesday late. You do not have to be a PPFA member to take advantage of their class offerings. There will also be a PPFA sponsored vendor showcase on Sunday night that will be bigger and better than last year.

I would not anticipate any class schedules to be posted until near Thanksgiving.

Probably nobody wants to know how you know that.

get your mind out of the gutter and at least up to the 4th floor. You call the spa....
90% of their massages are "in-room".... people who sometimes feel more at ease
in their room than in the spa.

For me it was just so I could take a shower after and go to bed.
For some reason my back was killing me after the book signing.
I think it was $150 + tip...

The spa pass is about $25/day.... but unlike the Hilton, opens
later and closes earlier. But as Rob Markoff will attest to, the
only way to start the morning. Steam, soak, shower recycle...

Then there is Todd from LJ.... he thinks that a 5 mile run on the
treadmill is better than coffee...... but then, the man is a heretic.
Nice guy.... just doesn't understand the power of the first cup
of coffee in the steam room....

I believe they're coming in November, from what I saw on the PPFA forum.

It's a great show - you'll love it!

Mike

I was lucky enough to win tickets to Lady Gaga's last tour. While the free seats were carpy, the show was out of your mind crazy. The set changes as well as costume changes were fantastic. And "the show" that surrounds her (the adoring public) was worth watching as much as the show. I was wondering if I had stepped in to Mardi Gras or maybe Halloween had arrived early. Even if you had a paid ticket seat, no one sat down. I thought the floor would give way from all the jumping up and down. And the dancers, OMG, combine the dancers and her singing and piano playing and this is one event you will NEVER EVER forget.

For a change of pace I think I will try Faith Hill and Tim McGraw
or scare myself to death with 4 rides on top of the Stratoshere Tower...

I see some deals are coming out for Harrah's

https://www.totalrewards.com/hotel-...k6Sk0&iradid=10522&irpid=18370&rd=AFF&aff=aff

Sat 1/26 $125.00
Sun 1/27 $35.00
Mon 1/28 $35.00
Tue 1/29 $35.00
Wed 1/30 $35.00

Avg. per night $53.00

I know I paid less last year. You can search old posts I am sure it is in there. In the past I have found some of the best deals booking airfare and hotel together through one of the travel sites or airlines.

No Ga-Ga-ing for me. You guys are on your own for that one!

Chinese dinner is awesome! I am sure there will be other fun to be had as well.

I second Sues's "cheap, clean, and close" and I am sure I will find myself there again this year. NO RESORT FEE!! Yippy! The rooms were also much bigger then the Mirage. Not as "cool" looking, but I have my eyes closed most of the time I am in my room anyway.

Okay, now you guys are getting me excited!

Southwest airlines has some sales:

Northeast

Manchester, NH (MHT), Providence RI (PVD), Boston MA (BOS) for $121.00 each way.

Northwest:

Portland OR, (PDX) for $57.00

Chicago IL (MDW) for $97.00

Philadelphia PA (PHL) Southwest/Airtran $110.00

All of the Southwest specials are less than $250 round trip- if you follow the credit card thread, you can get these flights for free.

I've used my Southwest points to get a free flights to Vegas these past 4 years, but there are some folks that, for whatever reason, aren't able to get a new credit card but still want to go to the show.

Mark-

I was complimenting you on the Southwest deals and merely pointing out that combined with the credit card suggestion in the other thread, all the flights you found would be completely free!

I would hate for someone to miss the show because they thought they couldn't afford it :).

It's a shame Southwest doesn't fly from Australia too! Bugger, I can't afford to go!
Qantas has made it too expensive to use frequent flyer points and I have plenty of those! They charge 60% more fees and taxes now than in 2010!

Anyone know of a smoke free hotel (not just smoke free rooms)...I get sick from the smoke in the ventilation system every time I go to Vegas...can't believe they still allow smoking in confined areas!

That was a good price, Susan. I just took a peek at it now and for 3 nights they came back with $172/night. Ouch.

Hey gang ... got this email this morning! Harrah's is $84 for Friday/Saturday, but $35 for Sunday-Thursday. There is tax, but no resort fee.

Because I'm thinking about going to the PPFA meeting on Saturday I would need to check in Friday and check out Thursday. Tax-tag-and-title it would be $344.96. That's $57.50 per night total.

Harrah's Deal

The Platinum Hotel was great and also smoke free.
http://www.theplatinumhotel.com/
It's located a long block behind Bally.
I paid 99/night, no resort fee and had a full apartment.
It was about a 20 minute walk to Mirage, 10 to Belagio.
susan

Ya.. I saw that .. did some looking after my post..no gaming either...sounds quiet! A good walk might do the body good too!

This package deal doesn't sound that good to me...unless the air in the Mirage is far better than the Hilton.

Harrah's Deal

Cliff posted over at PPFA Framer's Corner forum that he booked Harrah's for an average of $19-$20 per night, including taxes and fees. He received an email offer, as a member of the players club for that chain.

Harrahs seems pretty clean, and is right across the street from the host hotel.

Mike

Thanks Mike!! Logging in (can't believe I forgot!) brought my total down $46.33 a night. I will have to hunt down Cliff's post and see what he did!
