Welcome to the New G

BTW, I'll bet we didn't just lose any posts made since framer did the final back up. I think there were a couple of new Grumblers who registered since then.

Won't they be surprised. It'll be like coming home form college and discovery that your family has moved without telling you.

This new forum look great! Thanks framer tg!

I tried adding my own avatar from a link to my web space, but it said it was an invalid link so I added it from my computer. This worked, but I suppose anyone can use it now!

Look forward to many happy posts. Wait till the Atlanta Grumblers return!!
What Fun.

How do you upload a custom avatar?

Click on "User CP" top left of page, then click on "Edit Avatar".
On that page the instructions are available. It's very easy!

Just checking to see if my new avatar is there.

Yep... there it is!! We are the only state that puts a dead, cooked animal on it their license plates!!

Anybody figure out how to post a link to an old thread - perhaps one found with the search function?

Once you try it, you'll understand the problem.

Yup. It works just like it used to. You find the thread and copy and paste the address.

Never mind. It just doesn't LOOK like a Grumble URL.

I can't wait to try 'em out

I'm seeing lots of cool new moderator tools, like 'Stun,' 'Disrupt' and 'Vaporize.'

I wonder what they do.

:) I have been cleaning dresser-drawer escutcheons for the last 2 hours. Acetone is the only thing that will get the old paint off. After 2 hours of snorting acetone, I need some personal training.....How 'bout it, Ron? You seem to have things well in hand, and I KNOW you've got more brain cells than me......

What's he complaining about?

Two hours of snorting acetone and you can still spell 'escutcheon?'

Look, our little monkey guy is back! :icon10:

new format live

It really looks great.

We're at the airport in Atlanta and heading home in a few mins, from the show.

Thanks again, Framer!

Mike

I ran a filter to remove deplicate post and correctly count the posts. That's why everyone a a few less. No post to my knoledge were lost. Were missing a few gremblins that may come back later.

I see it's still up. I left the planet for a couple of hours but I had lobster today after I landed. Now for that :kaffeetrinker_2: .

Enjoy the show.

I may grow to hate the welcome notice in the upper right-hand corner - the one that says "You last visited 6 hours ago ..."

Just what I need. Someone to nag me about how much time I spend here.

Kit

I still last visited on November 29, 1999, so I have no guilt at all.

There are a couple of very interesting features I've just found here. One is, at the bottom of some threads, there is a list of "related threads" - some of them from four years ago in the archives.

To have a look at this, look at the ongoing team colors thread on this forum and scroll down to the bottom of the page. Pretty cool.

The other is the "ignore list." If you absolutely don't ever want to read another word written on TG by me, for example, you can go to your profile, scroll down through the options, and add me to your ignore list. Any time I post (even the 14,000 or so that are already here) will show only my name and a message that the post is not visible because I am on your ignore list. You can also choose to view that single post or you can remove me from your ignore list (though I'd recommend against it) by clicking on a link without having to go back into your profile.

If this doesn't result in a lasting peace on TG, then there is no hope for us at all.

Well heck, I am trying to repost Pat Murphy's image of his cat and I don't seem to be able to. I did the old fashioned way "control C-Control V", no luck. I tried copying and pasting, no luck. Then I saved to my computer and still no luck. Any ideas anybody?

Just wanted to tell Pat the picture was cool...................

Hmmm...I last visited December 31st, 1969 at 07:00 PM

I'm pretty sure I didn't have a computer back then.

As far as I can tell, there is no way to see who the moderators are on each forum now.

That's fine with me. I've always wanted to go undercover.

You can (optionally) rate a thread from 1-5 stars with the pull-down menu at the top of the thread. After enough people have rated a thread, a star-rating will appear next to the thread so busy folks can make a decision about whether to bother with it. (Or undercover moderators can decide whether to delete it. Not that they would ever do that.)

The new FAQ is search-able and much more useful than the old one. The member directory is much friendlier, too.

I cannot figure out how to do as custom Avatar. I click on the User CP page, click on Edit Avatar and all I see is an unremovable green dot in a circle that says something about No Avatar and then there are the first of 41 pages of "generic" Avatars.

Where are these instructions, exactly???

And is it me or do these new pages load really s-l-o-w?

Wow! What a nice surprise to find the G on the new system already. We are remodelling our basement and I've spent most of the day painting, so this was a nice "reward" for my efforts. (Okay, I did have a hot fudge sundae too.)
Thanks again, Framer, for all your hard work. I know everyone here on the G appreciates it very much.
I'm sure it will take time to get used to all the new features, and to the navigation setup. I see that the "cool" gremlin, which I usually use at the end of a post, has been given a new jazzy look. I'm glad I can still enter it by typing the same simple code...I'm also glad the :kaffeetrinker_2: gremlin is right there to click, because typing "Kaffeetrinker 2" all the time would probably drive me  .
 Rick

P.S. As someone mentioned, I too would vote for bringing back a link to the poster's website if that option is available. Thanks.

I'm having the same problem / seeing the same thing. Am I missing something? I figured how to place a pix in my sig, but I'd rather have it as my Avatar so as not to spam with 2 pix. Any suggestions?

I love the look and functionality of the new Grumble, but it sure does run slow. It's a bit frustrating waiting for the windows to pop in. I'm on a high-speed cable connection, so I'm assuming it may be the programming slowing it down? Anyone else have the same problem?

It seems a tiny bit slower, but hardly noticeable really and I'm about 8000 miles away! Maybe it always was slower for me?

THanks Emibub - now let's see if this works!!!!

As usual - took no notice of the email telling me to save password info. To my great suprise I find that my original username has been reborn - have I realy been here since 1970 or is the grumble just a bit confused?
