What happened to the links in our signatures

It has been awhile since I was on the site, but I noticed that the links are gone. I tried to update it (was working in the preview), but it did not stick. When did the admins pull this and why?

 

I appear to still have links in my signature. I did try to edit them a year or so ago and the process did not work so I just left them as is.

 

For some reason, only Bill can add links to our signatures

 

Bill took that out several years ago, and at the time I think it was being abused with big pictures and ads. If you have one already there, however, it will remain.
