Wizard made one that is pretty compact, but it can't cut 40" X 60" mats. Not sure if it is still in production.
From what I've seen the Wizard machines have a smaller footprint that either Valiani or Gunnar, but that depends on the model. The 9000Z is pretty bulky due to the button clamps.
I have my Wizard 8000 set up as close to vertical as suggested by Wizard, and it projects about 24" from the wall at the base.
Wizard will have machines at FrameCon in Worcester, MA. the second weekend in June 9-10 (Sunday, Monday show), and I think Valiani will be there as well.
