50 PMs is the default # of PMs in vBulletin but it can be raised. Since there are PMs that I save, I am always bucking up against that limit and I know that many others are too.

Reply here (or not) if you would like to make a request to our valiant leaders to raise the # of PMs to something higher.

The amount of space taken by a PM can't be any more than for a normal post so raising it seems cheap (in terms of space).

I would like to see it raised to 200. How many would you like?

I wouldn't mind a limit of 200, but it would probably be like the size of a thumb drive or a hard drive - more would never be enough. Next thing I know I would be up to 200 and deleting one at a time just as I do now.

Soooo what if you have a bunch of pictures and stuff sent to you.
Does that take up more space?

Moderators have a higher limit to begin with - probably because we get a steady stream of PMs with things like, "Bob was mean to me. Make him go away. Now." I have no particular emotional attachment to most of the PMs I receive, so it's easy to delete them.

But sometimes I'll get an actual Personal Message via PM from someone with something to say. Something I care about and want to remember.

We'll talk to Bill and explore the logistics. It won't be up to a vote or a poll, but if the software allows it and it won't chew up too much server space, I'll bet he'll consider it.

He's always been a pretty benevolent despot.

Thanks Ron. I've been bumping up against my limit the last couple days and I've only got 3 people I've been exchanging messages and it hasn't even been a lot of messages either. It's surprising how quick you can reach the total. Even if it was only doubled, it would help cause right now I'm deleting almost as soon as I read them to keep my box open for new messages.

On the other hand...................

I was Googling PM limits on vBulletin and came across one thread where a user was whining that his mods wouldn't raise the PM limit on their board from 500 to 1000.

Without a folder structure to manage/organize your PMs, that would seem unmanageable.

I also have a fear that it will never be enough.

We moved about five years ago from a smallish house to a house that's twice the size. We have a full walk-in attic, a two-car garage with additional attached space about equal to another two-car garage, a full basement and actual walk-in closets in each of the four bedrooms.

We ran our of room before we we even moved in.

Oh, and Sarah would be the first to point out that we still have a lot of our junk in the old house (where she lives.)

Ummm...What about copying and pasting the good ones into a writing program, and saving them? I do this on other sites.

I honestly don't care either way...the ones I want to save; I save in a different text file. Usually the ones with information I might need at a later time.
If there are a lot of pm's going back and forth with same people; we just exchange emails.
