I bought my 3M - Pro-Spray-System. So far so good...but...it doesn't work

I held the can of adhesive upright, just like the direction says, and pressed down on the little nozzle releasing air and some adhesive into a tissue.

I then turned the load/unload knob, on the top of the gun, to the opened position.

With the adhesive bottle in my left hand and the gun pointed away from me I pressed the white nozzle lock in and inserted the nozzle and adhesive bottle into the gun and released the nozzel lock button.

Then I turned the load/unload knob to the closed position.

Hooked up my air supply, pointed the gun towards a test piece of art and squeezed, first gently and then a little more and then all the way...ouch...nothing but air, just air, no more no less (where have I heard this before? Either Less or Poe)

From what I can see when I press the trigger this should press the adhesive bottle forward onto the nozzle which then should despense adhesive?

Help...Please, I don't want to be a show-case. IS THERE ANYONE ELSE out there THAT HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM?

Cliff, I don't have this system, I have been considering it, but I've heard that there is somewhat of a learning curve involved with it. Should you get it working properly I hope you will give us a rundown on what you think about it and what you had to go through to get it working properly. I hope your outcome is satisfactory.

I've also had this problem recently. I noticed that the bottle will "click" when properly seated in the handle. If not, it doesn't work. Just push it into place a little harder and see if that does the trick.

Good luck!

I've had this problem, too and haven't figured out the problem just yet. The other, related problem I've hadhas been a clogged tip. The sponge HAS to stay wet or else it dries up and clogs.

I must say that the clogging/no-spray problems are a drag; but I've found the ProSpray to be a good addition to our shop - I use it frequently and have gotten rid of all other spray adhesives in our shop.

I use the 3M ProSpray daily and have only had one cartridge that was bad, it leaked glue inside the spray handle. I called 3M and talked to a Lab Tech and he sent me 2 UPS to replace the one I had a problem with.

Tony is right, the sponge has to stay wet, if you let it dry out their is a potential for the tip to clog.

It sounds to me like the cartridge is not fully seated in the handle, or the trigger is not being fully pulled. It works like a 2 stage trigger on a paint gun. At half throttle you only get air and no product. That is useful for blowing away dust or partially drying an area you got too heavy.

Also check the nozzle end of the applicator to see if there is a build up of dry glue.

The spray pattern is adjustable by turning the clear plastic air nozzle in or out.

I hope this helps.

Oh boy,

I found the problem...ME

When you get the (new) bottle of adhesive there is a protective (white) cap. When I pulled the protective cap off there is a smallar (white) fitting that is supposed to stay on the bottle of adhesive but somehow didn't. This increases the diameter of the bottle lip which the lock knob is supposed to tighten down on.

Without the smallar cap in place the clamp that you tighten, using the lock knob on top of the gun, never clamps down on the bottle, thus the bottle never moves forward when you squeeze the trigger.

Oh yes,

Thanks for everyone's input.

It's tough to give an answer to a problem when you don't have all the data.

I still think the doc on this tool could have been a little more clear and I would have caught this sooner.

Thank you all again.
