Decor Moulding

With the closing of Max Moulding, I'm looking for a vendor with a selection of more unique styles that aren't just copies of what everyone else has, including traditional styles that are getting harder to find. I am considering Decor Moulding. I already have an account with them, because I was a customer of Southern Moulding when Decor bought them, but since I had already dumped the Southern samples I have only purchased supply items from them in recent years.

So my question is whether those here who use Decor mouldings are happy with the quality and service.

Thanks.

I have accounts with Decor, Studio, Roma, Universal, Nelson, Fotiou and Direct Moulding. All of them are better quality than Decor. I have dropped numerous Decor mouldings from my sites due to quality issues. I have not dropped mouldings from any of the others for quality issues.

That being said, there are some decent Decor mouldings but if I was looking for unique, I would go with any of the others first. You can get good values at Decor. Since this is the public forum, I can't address those here. PM me for more info or open a thread in the pricate business issue section.

I really don't see anyone who can replace Max. They really had an eclectic mix. Fotiou comes the closest.
My general observation is that most of the mainstream suppliers are dumbing down their selections.
Decor offers decent products, but their focus seems to be, or was when I was buying from them, on the value side. They are not necessarily a good replacement for Max.
Larry posted while I was writing this and I concur for the most part. I scrapped Roma a while back, and have never dealt with Nelson.
My current suppliers are LJ, Studio, International, and AMPF with a few others sprinkled in.

I do use all of those, as well as Engelsen, Global, and Bella. But as you say, Max just has a unique collection, and the quality is good. I tend to cherry-pick samples from vendors' lines to get a well-rounded selection of styles without a lot of me-too stuff. I agree that many mainstream vendors are getting very cautious in their selection, and there is a lot of copycat stuff out there. How many gray and pale gold caps do we really need? It seems it is getting harder to find interesting textured and patterned styles that are updates of traditional ones or truly unique new looks.

We did use Max previously.
We use Roma, LJ, Studio, Fotiou, Engelsen, International, CMI, Picture Woods, Montgomery Frames (closed corner), and Framing Fabrics for blank liner profiles that we hand cover with fabric.
We have used a little bit of Decor but not that much.
They sometimes have knockoffs of other companies styles.

CMI, International and Engelsen have warehouses in the Phoenix area not far from us.
LJ had a local warehouse but it closed a while ago so we just get deliveries on Wed and Fri from them.

I use Decor but they just ruined the line that I used the most - can't remember the name off the top of my head but they had a decent gold and silver finish on a number of profiles, with lap lines and some subtle scratching on them. Now the gold appears to be a brown wash over gold with very regular marks in the finish. A customer had been waiting since August as her profile was out of stock. We both hated what came in so am throwing out samples of the line.

The service at Decor, in my opinion, is really good.
Our sales rep is great.
The quality varies quite a bit.
They are not very consistent from one batch of moulding to the next, so your sample may not match after a few months.
They tend to have good prices, but have one of the highest shipping charges that I've seen.
With a warehouse a state away, I tend to get product next day.

We tend to get more unique designs from Bella, Global, and Direct Moulding. We are always on the look out for something else a bit different.

I do have some of their samples, but they tend to be the somewhat unusual styles. I'm looking to replace Max's offerings that are unique but not too "crazy".
