How would you describe this moulding?

How would you describe this moulding? What would you call the squiggly things in the moulding? Need a better description than the stock "Gold Frame" description when I post it online.

Lawn darts?
Ask Baer, he'll know.

That's a great question.
What is the appropriate term for that kind of decoration on a frame?
LJ Allegra line, or Nurre Caxton mini's are like that, and I always struggle to sound "professional" when all I can come up with is "fancy shapes"

First thought was a whisk for cooking.

Second thought was termites..the winged kind.

Just went down the rabbit hole that is Bomar Frame Design Products. They make the compo for close cornered frames. I did not find this pattern as such, though I did find one that had the same shape perpendicular to the length of the moulding. Just a stock number.

Call it the Shuttlecock motif and dare anyone to prove you wrong.

Made me think of cicadas. But shuttlecock is better. You may start a trend thing.

It could be "Darts and Dots" or "Squids and Beads"....
I was gonna' say "Cocks and Dots (shuttle cocks, please....o_O)" but It wouldn't be correct for this section...:faintthud:

My money is on Melinda in post #17 for being the real answer.
Although Vic's post 11 is fun. 'Jules Verne Gold' has a ring to it. And another one of the ideas would fit well with some content of your site.
