Hello and thanks in advance for the input! I am framing a sentimental postcard and my client would like both sides to show. They also want the postcard to float so that the edges are visible and that it reads as a "postcard". I do not have much experience framing with both sides of the work being visible. I am considering framing the postcard between two pieces of glass and using a metal frame so that the spring clips hide in the frame and so no visible fasteners. I'm wondering if a more experienced framer has some other ideas. I know that the glass sitting right on the postcard is not the best...

Ylva’s suggestion would always be my first one too, but if customer insists, melinex encapsulation is a perfect solution.
That is exactly what I would do. Then cut front and back mats with openings just slightly larger than the postcard, so that its edges will be visible within the mat. Then frame that package between glass .

There are commercially available 2 and 4 mil Mylar sleeves available in a number of sizes for things like postcards, currency and other smaller ephemera. Most have minimum quantity requirements so it might not be for all. Here is one example for large postcards; 25 for $23.75

That and Rick's method will work fine. Or you can do a sink mount with foam core and use the foam core dropout to hold the Mylar sleeve in place.
