Hi, I am new to the group, but have been framing for a few years. I have 22 frames I need to glue together. The molding is shown below. I currently use ratchet straps to tighten everything up, but the thickness on the outside of the molding is so thin, the ratchet straps keep slipping off. In the past I have been able to put weights on the corners, but it's not working too good this time.

What do yall suggest I use to tighten up the corners for gluing? Thank you in advance for any help!! Luie

The go-to method in the olden days was spring clamps. They a quick and simple and you could insert
cross nails with them in place. The only drawback is they leave a little 'divot'. This was not a prob if you
were using cross-nails as you could fill the nail hole and divot at the same time. I have a set which I use
all the time, but I mostly do hand-finished stuff so the holes get filled in the finishing process. 🙂

While not the superior quality of the original Stanley 400 vise long discontinued,
Decor has this workable one available at a very reasonable price....

That looks the same or very similar to the one available from Larson Juhl.
I have been reasonably happy with its performance.
Although it doesn't perform as well with tall frames.

I find the non-Stanley versions to be a hair off of square.
I often have to add a matboard shim on the inside rabbet in order to make the angle line up.

just a thought
ck around w ith local competitors
one might v-nail them for a reasonable, well worth it fee. not filling nail holes on 176 holes sounds pretty appealing
somebody might have an hour to knock 'em out
