Hinge techniques

Steve, that is an impossible question to answer as each piece requires different handling.

For anything of value, I use Japanese paper hinges and wheat paste. I have not tried Klucel-G yet.
There is a learning curve to this, so practice on different kind of paper. I deal mostly with original art, antique art and objects.

There are many mounting methods where no hinges are used. Search the forum for 'hinges' and 'mounting' and that should give you plenty to read for a start.

If you were to be able to make it to FrameCon in Ma. in June, you could take Hugh Phibbs' class on "Hinging Made Simple". It is probably the most comprehensive course on the subject.

If the "photographic prints" you refer to are contemporary giclee prints of photo images, you hinge like you would any other paper-borne art. If you are dealing with darkroom photos, or anything involving chromogenic printing there are other options as Ylva mentioned.
If the pieces are relatively small, you might consider "Platform Mounting". You can get a taste of it by doing a search for it here on the G.

It's a good question, unfortunatey there isn't a simple "here's everything you need to know in one place" answer.

I see from your website that you are a skilled photographer.
Framing is probably a secondary concern?
Imagine if I asked you "What is a good camera lens?".
You could explain to me in great detail for hours about all the possible options.
The same goes for professional picture framing.
It takes a lot of studies and even more experience to become fully knowledgeable.

It's great that you are reaching out to professional framers to increase your knowledge.

If you can give us some more details about your framing/mounting requirements perhaps we can give you more specific guidance.
Here are a few questions that may help narrow down possible answers:
-Are you framing your own in photo prints only? If so, what type of prints precisely?
-What size prints do you produce and frame?
-What kind of frames are you using? Custom-built? Ready-made? What material are they made from?
-Do you mat? How wide and how many layers?
-Do you mount to a backer board, and what kind?
