Very new to Lifesaver and still poking around the software. When you add a mat or moulding to your workorder, are you typically typing it in with the prefix memorized or using the search feature (which also still requires prefix)?

Finding it clunk to find what I'm looking for since companies like Jayeness use multiple prefixes for their sub companies.

Any tips for navigating actually finding things? Thanks!

I have just memorized the prefixes but I do have a little printed cheat sheet taped to the side of the monitor that lists them all that we use.

Most samples have the full number printed, often with the prefix. We have them memorized.
A Artique
B Bainbridge
C Crescent
P Peterboro

L Larson-Juhl
R Roma
FT Fotiou
OM Omega
ST Studio
PW Picture Woods
PR Presto
AMC AMCI
BEL Bella
NEL Nelsons
etc

If it is something available from a few local vendors, we usually use the manufacturer's number and not the one specific to our supplier. (such as a mat or metal moulding)

With lifesaver, what we did was to print barcodes on all the corner samples, moulding, fillets and mats, and we just read them with the bar code scanner, very easy, and the best part is that the customer has no idea what the moulding reference is.

We did that, too, back in 2002 or so. Some vendors have barcodes on them already. We don't currently use the barcode reader very often.

We also put them on gift/art inventory.

Most of the time, we just key in the item number from the back of the sample. For mats, it automatically knows to switch between the 32x40 or 40x60 flavors (item numbers), as the size increases.
