Some people really have no inmtegrity. In December of 1998 a customer came in to frame two drawings done by her children that were to be given as a gift for their father. Since we had cut off taking any additional work for christmas we greed to frame them as soon after the holiday as possible. We had them done before New Years. In the rush, the person making the sale (actually my wife who rarely works in the shop) failed to get a deposit. Anyway we called to lket the customer know they were done, anxious to collect the $189 remaining on the ticket. February came...March...April...and despite repeated calls and postcards the customer did even respond. We wrote them off but insterad of tearing them down we set them aside. December this year the custom,er showed up and all embarassed asked it we still had them. We did, of course, and collected her check. Wouldn't you know, today the cehck was returned by the bank NSF. Now we'll probably spend the rest of the year trying to get payment. Sometimes I wonder about people.

Check with the listed bank. She probably overextended herself at Christmas and didn't realize it. As soon her bank has enough funds in the account bug on over there and get the check ceritfied. That will lock up the funds without risking another NSF charge. A little less is better than nothing.
Good luck and Happy New Year.

Just what I plan to do, and have done in the past. It's just the hassle since from my perspective I have trouble understanding the writing of a check when there are not funds to cover it. I'm old fashioned I guess. Must say, in more than 16 years of business I've not had a check that hasn't eventually cleared.
