THIS is why I never trusted Microsoft! It looks like I will have Windows 10 until???

So he's upset that it doesn't support computers from before 2012, and requires higher security/secure boot encryption? This is protecting us from a lot of infections.

I have been running it since early betas in 2020, on a bunch of computers. It was released in October 2021, and the rant video was made shortly after.

He should be wearing a tin foil hat, IMO. He's probably the smart one because he gets money every time someone views the videos. :)

People are also free to run Linux or other platforms, if afraid of Microsoft and Apple.

Thanks for sharing

I haven't had any problem with W11 at all. But then again I'm still running W10 on my computers and will continue to do so until they pry the mouse from my cold dead hands ( or until updates stop - whichever comes first).

We upgraded our Valiani PC from Win 10 to Win 11 a couple weeks ago. Much faster!

I got Windows11 when I replaced my old computer and, so far (crossing fingers) it hasperformed well.

My only beef with Microsoft is the way they abuse their marrket dominance by jinxing third party software with their upgrades every now and then. I refuse to pay for monthly for Office 360 and periodically have to reload or reset my Textmaker or Libre Word programmes after Microsoft updates.

Like I said before, "Every other Window is a FLOP." I DID have Windows 3.1, Windows 98, Windows XP, Windows 7 and I currently have Windows 10. The next descent windows will be be Windows 12 or ???

As Windows 12 is in the making, I guess you can just wait for that then. As previously said, I have had no problems with Windows11 and have been running it for over a year when I got my new desktop

Here's another one: HERE
And another one: HERE
I look at it like this: If you buy a boat from a dealer, can they tell you WHEN you can go fishing?

When you buy a car, there is an expectation that you'll be able to get parts from the manufacturer for a certain amount of time.
At some point though, the manufacturer will stop making those parts.
You can likely find them from other manufacturers, and second hand, but eventually that will dry up.

There is no reason to not use Windows 10 on an older computer.
We have a perfectly functional Windows 95 machine that came with our Wizard 8000.
We don't use it anymore, but it runs.

My issue with Windows 11 is in the UI department.
The Start Button has things organized differently than it used to.
There may be ways to set as it was before, but I'm not tech savvy enough to do that, and if I was, it probably wouldn't bother me.
A recent update on my Laptop added the DOW to the Login screen. I don't want to see it, and I see no way to remove it.
Not a big deal, but sometimes it seems like they make UI changes for change sake, not for the needs of the customer.

Ah!! My pet peeve with software designers.

I would like to have a huge sign hung up in every computer lab with this written on it in big letters:

"IF IT AIN'T BROKE, DON'T FIX IT"

Sadly, computer nerds prefer their philosophy of "If it ain't broke, keep fixing it until it is."

As a retired programmer, I would like to state that there is plenty of blame to go around. We have all seen the following in one form or another. Truth it speaks.

what-the-customer-really-needed.jpg

Larry, I couldn't agree more. I too was brought into the world of computer design due to my "in the field(real world)" experience for a retailer. I was involved with all aspects of field locations, good and bad.
With this experience, I was able to translate the need vs would look good to do reality of the project. As an example, on paper, the time of receiving a shipment in a receiving department of a store was x-days; however, the people in control did not understand that there are "what if's" that might take up to a week. That "what if" was mostly individual boxes of a shipment that were called "free astray's" that got lost temporally in the shipping system. No system is perfect the first time around and should be considered a work in progress.
This is only one reason why software is updated. Another reason is that management wants to sell more to existing customers. There are more reasons as well.

I only have Apple because of Frame Ready.
FrameReady runs on Windows platforms too.
I have always been a Mac guy. In fact, the only PC I have ever owned is the one that runs my Wizard, and it is on Windows XP. (Not connected to the Web, though, so I'm not concerned about security.)
That's one reason I chose FrameReady. It was developed on Mac by Bert DeRoo, who started as a framer, so he understood the needs of a frame shop.

Having said that, in recent years I have grown frustrated with Apple in the post-Jobs era. They seem to be more concerned about everything appearing sleek and aerodynamic, and less interested in the actual User Experience and intuitive operating. This is counter to Apple's founding philosophy.

We used to run Frame Ready on two devices.
A Windows desktop, and an Apple iPad (as that is the only supported tablet)
Now we have an additional Mac Mini as a server. Not sure if a Windows server would have worked.
I really wanted a POS that I could run on a Tablet. I nearly didn't purchase Frame Ready due to the iPad requirement, and due to one of my worst experiences as a customer in an Apple store.

I'm not clicking anything.

I have been running Windows 11 on my shop desktop without any problems. It is not that different from Windows 10
Personally, I prefer Windows 10, but that's past & I too have & run Windows 11 (Windows 11 is much more intrusive than 10, fulfilling the adage that if it ain't broke Microsoft will eventually succeed in breaking it --- but if one continues with Windows' updates, than Windows 11 remains a reality).

Obviously, you, or I, are entitled to our individual opinions. But actually view the video(s) Mitchel suggests. You may talk differently then --- some of the data therein confirmed certain suspicions of mine regarding behemoths like Microsoft. Also, to be absolutely frank, can you honestly claim that Microsoft's Windows has improved since Windows XP or only gotten worse with each new "upgrade" (for myself, I'm convinced, not opined, of the latter)?

Well it's good that we have so many choices. If you don't care for strawberry ice cream, try some vanilla, etc. (Many different distros/flavors of *nix, Windows, Android, IOS, etc)

Choice is good and I respect your opinion.

And I yours. (Hopefully, we'll still have "many choices" regarding computer software in the foreseeable future.)

I was always a die hard Windows fan. But in the last 10 years I have switched to all Apple. In my opinion Windows is trying to be everything to everyone and it has become a bloated nightmare. Our work computers are all Windows and it is so frustrating what a nightmare networking has become! The Windows computers are an ongoing nightmare to keep them talking to each other. When I bring in my Macbook Pro it connects to the Windows computers with no issue. I will admit Mac has issues too but for me they are about 1/100th of the issues I have with Windows. I will cycle out all windows computers from our workflow.
